PILLAR FRONTMAN DEFYS THE NORM: Rob Beckley announces first ever solo album. No word if the Pillar team will be effected and how this will impact the upcoming Patriots Super Bowl victory.

PILLAR FRONTMAN DEFYS THE NORM: Rob Beckley announces first ever solo album

Rob Beckley talks about his upcoming solo release on idefi music

Grammy nominated artist Rob Beckley says he’s excited that his upcoming solo album will be the first release on new record label idefi Music.

“I am incredibly excited that Idefi believes in me enough to be their initial launch artist. I believe in Idefi and what it stands for and am incredibly honored” he says. “An unknown future is as exciting as it gets in business, especially the music industry.”

For years Beckley served as lead vocalist for the nu-metal band Pillar and is scheduled to release his debut solo album in March through idefi. During his time with Pillar the band sold over a million records worldwide and won three Dove awards. Their 2008 effort “the Reckoning” received a Grammy nod for “Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album.”

“The solo record is an opportunity to just be myself and not worry about sounding like “what Pillar is supposed to sound like”” he said. “I love rock, I love worship, and I love anthemic songs. This will be a straightforward rock record with the same passionate lyrics people grew used to in Pillar.”

“I really cannot wait for people to hear the record Rob’s working on and see what an artist can do when they are not under the thumb of a traditional label” says idefi CEO Brady Deaton.

idefi music is a new record label model that puts control into the hands of the artists. It allows artists to set their own pricing and determine what, when and how their music is released. Payment to the artist is instant and does not revolve around recouping advances and exorbitant promotional fees as seen in the traditional model.

“We’ve scanned a million records but we really haven’t seen any royalties” Beckley says. “They loan you all this money to do a record and you have to pay it back plus all the marketing before you get to any kind of return.”

Music from Rob’s new album will be released shortly after the launch of idefi Music on March 14. To learn more about idefi Music visit www.idefimusic.com.

Sherwood Pictures worked with Davies’ company, Advantage Models & Talent, while casting the movie.

“Needing several actors we couldn’t find, Advantage Models & Talent worked with us when Sherwood Pictures recently shot our upcoming film Courageous,” says Terri Catt, casting director, Sherwood Pictures. “We cast five cast members through them and were more than pleased with the excellent job these actors did in our film. The agency, as well as the actors, was professional, easy to work with, and ’spot on’ for the parts we cast them in.”

The Advantage actors featured in Courageous are Ben Davies, in his first feature-film role, as David Thomson, the youngest of the film’s five main characters; T.C.
“The reputation of everyone at Sherwood Pictures is stellar,” says Nisé Davies. “All of us at Advantage were excited for our actors who were able to be a part of such a high caliber movie as Courageous.”

COURAGEOUS is the fourth release from the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. The first release was Flywheel (2003), followed by Facing The Giants (2006) and Fireproof (2008). With each release, Sherwood Pictures continues to entertain moviegoers with films that affect lives through heartfelt stories of faith and hope.
Pillar News
Nominations for the 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards were announced at Belmont University’s Curb Café with Tulsa-based rock band Pillar securing a nomination for Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year for its sixth studio project, Confessions. Over its 10 year career, Pillar has reached nearly 1 million in album sales (including two albums with sales exceeding 300,000 copies each), performed for more than three million people and tallied 10 No. 1 radio singles, 13 Top 5 hits, a GRAMMY nomination, four Dove Awards, and nine national headlining tours. And they still continue to impress critics and fans alike. Known for unparalleled energy, commitment to excellence and consistently surpassing fan expectations, the hard rock quartet delivers big on an album full of weighty messages. Confessions (released 9/22/2009) debuts the talents of new members, bassist Rich Gilliland, drummer Taylor Carroll and new producer, Rob Graves (Red, Wavorly). The album has inspired Pillar frontman Rob Beckley to co-author a book elaborating on important themes from the record. Co-produced with the American Bible Society, the book, aptly titled “Confessions,” is available free of charge on tour dates, with book excerpts available here. Pillar’s previous studio album, For the Love of the Game (02/26/08), debuted at No. 4 on SoundScan’s Christian (overall) album chart. Since Pillar’s Dove Award-winning label debut Above in 2001, the band has graced the cover of numerous Christian and mainstream magazines with features in Rolling Stone, Spin, Bass Player, and Hit Parader. The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based band also won Fuse TV’s “Next Big Thing” award and has seen its music played on numerous ESPN sports programs, including SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight (during montage highlights from the 2007 World Series) and College Gameday, as well as CBS and FOX Sports.

Seabird Ready To Win Even More Fans
Fresh off the December release of their sophomore album Rocks Into Rivers, Credential Recording’s artist Seabird will be hitting the road this spring with Switchfoot, Sherwood, NeedToBreathe and more for a mix of club and arena tour dates. Seabird will join Switchfoot starting this week in Texas for their “Hello Hurricane” tour. Beginning in March, the band will team up with Sherwood hitting much of the Midwest and West. Next up for Seabird will be dates with NeedToBreathe, Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers starting in late April running through May. The band is already confirmed for several major summer festivals including Alive Fest, Ichthus Festival, Cornerstone Festival, Creation East, Rock the Desert, Fall Quest, Purple Door and more. “Every band at some point in their career has lied about how excited they were to be on a tour with bands that no one has heard of so it should be easy to tell we are not lying when we say how pumped we are at the way 2010 is shaping up,” admits band front man Aaron Morgan. “We have been huge Switchfoot fans for years and are truly honored to share the stage with them for part of their ‘Hello Hurricane’ tour. Following the Switchfoot tour we head out with Sherwood, who besides having a massive internet presence have an excellent new album to share with an always enthusiastic audience. We could not be happier that our good friends NeedToBreathe have also invited us to support them on a portion of their ‘Won’t Turn Back’ tour.” The first single from Rocks Into Rivers, “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful,” quickly shot up the CHR chart where it is currently No. 3. The song is also in the Top 20 on the Rock chart in addition to being released to new and active at AC Monitor this week. In the midst of radio success, Seabird is filming a video for their hit single “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful” this month. “We are thrilled with the success we have seen with the band’s single so far and feel this song still has huge potential in front of it,” says Grant Hubbard, Vice President of National Promotion at EMI CMG. “The band’s hard work and effort in the songwriting and recording process has really paid off as we are seeing this song climb the charts at our CHR format. We are looking forward to pushing this song to the Christian AC format in the coming weeks.” The recognizable sounds of Seabird have received support from major networks ABC, CBS and mtvU where the band’s music has been used in promotion for Grey’s Anatomy (ABC), Pushing Daisies (ABC), Numb3rs (CBS) and more. Seabird has also hit such key stages as South by Southwest, MOBFest 09, Forecastle Festival and even headlined the opening night of the MidPoint Music Festival. Cincinnati-based Seabird comprises brothers Aaron (vocals/keys) and Ryan (guitar) Morgan as well as Preston Lane (drums) and Brandon Weaver (bass). The band signed with Credential Recordings in late 2007 and released its debut label project,‘Til We See The Shore, June 24, 2008. A collaborative effort with producers Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, Switchfoot) and Allen Salmon (Mute Math, This Beautiful Republic), the album received phenomenal national publicity, featured on episodes of “Numb3rs,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and promos for ABC’s 12-time Emmy-nominated series, “Pushing Daisies.” Their latest, Rocks Into Rivers, was produced by Paul Moak at the Smoakstack in Nashville, and Matt Hales at Ocean Studios in Los Angeles. The band was also recognized by its hometown as “Artist of the Year” at the 2008 Cincinnati Entertainment.

Kutless Rocks On
BEC Recordings’ Kutless has impacted fans once again with another power ballad, “What Faith Can Do.” Kutless’ hit song has struck a chord with listeners since its debut in the fall with their worship project “It Is Well.” This week “What Faith Can Do” broke into No. 1 on AC Monitored, marking its spot at No. 1 in four Christian radio formats (CHR, AC Mon, AC Indicator, Inspo). The hit song spent four weeks at the top on CHR (currently No. 2), and remains No. 1 on AC Indicator, AC Monitored, Inspo and the new National Christian Audience Chart (the most popular Christian song ranked by airplay audience impressions). The single is mentioned in this week’s Billboard chart highlights. From the beginning this song and album has touched fans. The single remained at the top on the iTunes Christian chart for weeks, and the album debuted at #1 on iTunes Christian Albums chart, No. 42 on Billboard 200 and at No. 3 on Billboard Top Christian Albums. In addition, “It Is Well” peaked at No. 11 on the Overall Top Albums chart on iTunes. This success is a follow-up to the RIAA Gold selling “Strong Tower” album. Reviews and critics praised this album’s integrity saying the album was “clearly all about worship,” “a sincere call to worship,” and “a staple in any worship collection.” This week “It Is Well” will pass the 100K units sold mark. Kutless is also currently on the Casting Crowns “Until The Whole World Hears” 2010 tour. The tour began earlier this month and will continue across the nation until March 27th ending in Florida.

David Crowder Band To Help Local Communities
The Life & Faith Tour is a Christian festival with a major fundraising component to benefit the local community, born out of the simple desire to give back and leave a community in better shape than it was when they arrived. Created years ago by former fireman Ronnie Jackson, as an initial fundraiser for the local fire department in Kenbridge, VA, what started out as a cookout with local entertainment grew into a major fundraising event with headlining acts such as Travis Tritt and Alabama. Today, over 30 years later, the tour has grown into a major family attraction. What sets it apart from other festivals is how it presents an opportunity for organizations to raise funds; this is done by simply spreading the word. Starting February 15, tickets will be available for $47.50 and $10 of that automatically goes to a local organization. If the ticket buyer doesn’t choose a beneficiary, a default organization in each city will benefit, ensuring that the community benefits from every ticket sold. Organizations will range from local churches and youth groups to the YMCA, Red Cross and other worthy civic groups. Churches and organizations are welcome to sign up as a beneficiary starting on January 15.“This is truly an effortless act, all organizations have to do is talk about the show, and then when a patron goes to buy a ticket, that organization gets $10 just for the referral,” Jackson explains. “However the churches and organizations must be registered on the tour’s website to become a beneficiary. When purchasing a ticket, patrons will be able to choose a church or organization where their ticket proceeds will go. Each Life & Faith venue can hold 70,000 people so a sellout crowd would leave that community with $700,000 as the tour busses pull out of town. It is truly a remarkable way to give back to the community.”
Compassion International is just one of the many sponsors that have climbed on board to help make this event possible. As a beneficiary for the tour, it is an opportunity that not only raises funds for their own organization, but it also benefits others in the surrounding communities as well. For every 70k people who attend, the tour will provide the funds to build a Habitat of Humanity home in that state.

MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE Release New Video
In June 2008, a guy by the name of Mitchell Davis created and posted a parody video about the Usher cologne fragrance and living the day in the life of the rapper on You Tube. In his video he wondered if a band like MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE had their own fragrance, and what his day would be like. After finding out about the video, the band reached out to Mitchell and an instant friendship was formed. They both agreed that it would be amazing to do a full video for “On Wings of Integrity” and take his original concept and continue the story. MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE’S video “On Wings Of Integrity” features Mitchell living a day in the life of the band and the MCMB fragrance. The video debuted online on February 16th with over 60,000+ hits within 18 hours. Check out the video here.

Jars Of Clay Gets Six
Veteran progressive band Jars of Clay may have reinvented its sound with last year’s The Long Fall Back To Earth, but its peers in the Christian music community continued to honor band members in some familiar ways, with the band picking up six nominations for this year’s GMA Dove Awards. The group was well represented in the GMA Dove Awards’ general categories, picking up mentions in the Artist of the Year and Group of the Year categories, as well as inclusion for Song of the Year for “Two Hands.” The Long Fall Back To Earth was also nominated as Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year, as well as notching two slots in the creative category Recorded Music Packaging of the Year, for the standard and limited editions of the project. But the band will not be partaking in any celebratory beverages in honor of its nomination slate, as band members are in the early stages of its annual “40 Days of Water” benefit for its long-time charitable concern Blood:Water Mission. Jars of Clay, along with many other artists and fans, undertake drinking water as their only beverage for 40 days (coinciding with the Lenten season) and donating the savings to support local water projects in Uganda.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club To Release New Album
With merely weeks leading to the 3/9 release of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s fifth studio album, Beat The Devil’s Tattoo, iTunes is making it available for pre-order now. Upon purchase, the single, “Beat The Devil’s Tattoo,” will be available for instant download with added bonus, “Annabel Lee,” being offered exclusive to this pre-order period, otherwise only available on the vinyl pressing, the Japanese release, and iTunes UK. All versions of the LP purchased through iTunes, pre-sale or otherwise, will include “1:51,” a cult/fan favorite that has not been released until now. This album sees the band return to the rootsy, back porch country sound of Howl, perfectly dusted over their signature wall-of-shoegaze fuzz. In a sense, the duo of bassist Robert Levon Been and guitarist Peter Hayes has started over, with a new vision, new drummer Leah Shapiro as well as a new label – their own Abstract Dragon, in partnership with Vagrant Records. Their newfound confidence and inspiration appears to have rejuvenated them, and their songs bleed with raw intensity. Like the title of the album, a phrase gleaned from Edgar Allan Poe’s 1839 short story, “The Devil In The Belfry,” BRMC stands on the edge of darkness, but never dives in. The trio’s extensive tour begins 2/26 in Sacramento and culminates in Toronto 4/11, after a stop at Webster Hall in NYC 4/8. San Francisco fans will get a special treat, as the band salutes their roots with an intimate performance at Slim’s, their original stomping ground, the night of the album’s release. Upon the tour’s announcements, shows are beginning to sell out, including two nights in current hometown Los Angeles, with a third added due to popular demand.

Gungor Gets Praised
Gungor’s sophomore album from Brash Music titled Beautiful Things has been released amidst critical praise as well as promising feedback from a stellar performance at the 10th anniversary of the re:create conference. Formerly known as The Michael Gungor Band, the socially active, Denver-based foursome is comprised of Michael Gungor, his wife Lisa, as well as friends Brad Waller (guitar) and Josh Harvey (bass). Gungor hits the scene with a different perspective than most bands as the lead singer is perhaps best known for co-writing distinguished songs like “Friend of God” and “Say So” made famous by Israel Houghton. The band’s 2008 debut on Brash Music, Ancient Skies, garnered critical acclaim. Beautiful Things will be the band’s sophomore release, and the third CD release for Michael Gungor.

The Imposter Movie Stars Kevin Max, Kerry Livgren
Pure Flix Entertainment (The Wager, Sarah’s Choice) is happy to announce the release of THE IMPOSTER on DVD, 2/23, 2010. THE IMPOSTER is distributed through EMI/CMG Distribution to CBA retail outlets nationwide. Starring Kevin Max (dc Talk), Jeff Deyo (formerly of Sonicflood), and Kerry Livgren (Kansas, AD), THE IMPOSTER tells the story of a popular Christian rock band, Grand Design, whose lead singer, Johnny C (Max), is spiraling out of control. After his wife and band mates discover his secret life offstage, Johnny C’s life begins to fall apart. Coached by his mentor Proff (Livgren) and a crazy homeless man Tom Wright (World Trade Center, Barbershop), he begins a journey back home to rebuild what is left of his family and home life. Written and directed by Daniel Millican, THE IMPOSTER was a story that needed to be told. “This movie was made for the church,” explains Millican. “I find the closer I pull to Jesus, slowly the masks come off and masquerades end. Hopefully this movie will help viewers choose to find their identity in Jesus.” The DVD, which includes bonus featurettes including “Unmasking The Characters”, Full Music Videos of “Believe (In An Act)”, “Empty”, “Carry On Wayward Son”, and Study Guide Scenes will be available at all major Christian stores on 2/23, 2010.

RED REVS “NOTHING AND EVERYTHING” TOUR, EXTENDING TREK INTO FEBRUARY 2010
Powerhouse Lineup Includes Pillar, The Wedding and Me In Motion

Essential Records rock band RED kicks off a jam-packed January, which will include celebrating its second career GRAMMY nomination at the awards show

at the end of the month, by launching its 2010 “Nothing And Everything” tour tonight in Fort
Smith, Arkansas.

The tour also features fellow hard rock band (and labelmates) Pillar, along with special guests The Wedding and Me In Motion.

The “Nothing And Everything” tour is a meeting of two rock powerhouse bands: RED, which has established itself among the upper echelon of rock bands in just three short years, and Pillar, a band that has helped to pioneer the Christian hard music movement. Touring together for the first time, both bands will bring their signature brand of rock to one stage for a riveting concert event.

Randy Armstrong of RED comments, “At our shows, we always play off the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd. We know how enthusiastic our fans are and imagine Pillar’s fans are just as wild. The combination is going to be explosive. This will be the rock tour of all rock tours.”

“RED has a similar stage dynamic, which makes this a powerful ticket,” says Pillar frontman Rob Beckley. “We are excited they asked us to be a part of the tour and look forward to putting on a show our fans, and theirs, can be proud of.”

Fans attending a “Nothing And Everything” show can also pick up a free copy of Pillar’s “Confessions” book, produced by Pillar’s frontman, Rob Beckley and American Bible Society, aptly titled “Confessions.” The “Confessions” book emerges as a resource to address some of the most salient issues affecting youth today: spiritual doubts, sexuality, brokenness and self image. Each section includes thematic confessions, a short devotional, reflection questions and Scriptures references for digging deeper.

The book, an extension of Pillar’s hard-hitting Confessions album, was inspired by the band’s profound spring 2009 “Confessions Tour.” A confessional curriculum called “My Secret,” taught at the band’s local Tulsa, Ok. church, changed the way Pillar chose to engage with fans while on tour.

Nashville-based RED, made up of Michael Barnes (vocals), Anthony Armstrong (guitar) Randy Armstrong (bass), and Joe Rickard (drums), has logged an impressive 1,000+ live shows since releasing its debut album End Of Silence in 2006.

RED’s GRAMMY nominated sophomore project, Innocence & Instinct (2/7/09) released with more than 40,000 in first week sales and climbed its way to the Top 5 on iTunes Top Albums chart. To date, the band has earned eight consecutive No. 1 radio singles, the last three of which are from Innocence & Instinct. The band simultaneously released a Deluxe Edition of Innocence & Instinct that includes four bonus tracks and a DVD featuring the “Death of Me” music video, a “making of” documentary and more.

Since the 2006 emergence of End Of Silence RED has maintained a near-constant presence on the road, touring alongside notable rock names such as Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, 3 Doors Down, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Saving Abel, Sevendust, Staind, Kutless, Trapt, Third Day, Switchfoot and others, and rave reviews for the band’s live shows have poured in via both print and online outlets alike.

Over its 10 year career, Pillar has reached nearly 1 million in album sales (including two albums with sales exceeding 300,000 copies each), performed for more than three million people and tallied 10 No. 1 radio singles, 13 Top 5 hits, a GRAMMY nomination, four Dove Awards, nine national headlining tours. Confessions, Pillar’s sixth studio album — debuting the talents of new members, bassist Rich Gilliland, drummer Taylor Carroll and new producer, Rob Graves (Red, Wavorly) — released Sept. 22, 2009. The album has inspired Pillar frontman Rob Beckley to co-author a book elaborating on important themes from the record. Co-produced with the American Bible Society, the book, aptly titled “Confessions,” will be available free of charge at tour dates beginning January 14, with book excerpts available at www.pillarmusic.com/confessions.

ME IN MOTION JOINS THE “NOTHING AND EVERYTHING” TOUR WITH HEADLINERS RED & PILLAR PLUS SPECIAL GUEST, THE WEDDING. ME IN MOTION HEADS BACK INTO STUDIO TO RECORD TWO NEW SONGS FOR CENTRICITY MUSIC DEBUT CD

Centricity Music’s powerhouse band, Me In Motion, will join RED on its 2010 “Nothing And Everything” tour that launches January 14th in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. The tour will also feature Pillar and special guest, The Wedding. This marks the second major tour for the newcomer band, Me In Motion, as they were featured on the Newsboys fall tour in 2009. Me In Motion will perform songs from their upcoming self-titled debut on Centricity Music that releases March 23, 2010.

Here is a link to their new video single “Losers”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9DMZq9jWUI

“We are super pumped to share the stage with bands, Red and Pillar, on the Nothing & Everything Tour,” says Seth Mosley, lead vocalist and guitarist for Me In Motion. “These guys have great hearts and a killer live show that doesn’t hold anything back. It will be a super high-energy night where we are thrilled to introduce some of our new music to the crowds.”

“Me In Motion brings energy and excitement to every performance, whether that’s in front of fifty kids at a youth group or before thousands at a concert hall,” says Steve Ford, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Centricity Music. “Either way Seth, Tim and Dexter give it all every time. The tour with Red & Pillar allows them to perform before numerous new fans and take my word for it, when you see them, you will become a fan.”

Before heading out on the RED tour, Me In Motion, has headed back into the studio to record two new songs for their upcoming CD, “The God I Know” and “Seek Justice, Love Mercy. ”We thought the record was done months ago, but Seth came in and played us these two new songs so we had to have them on the project,” adds Ford. “We feel they are amazing songs that make the project even stronger.”

The first single from the new album, “Losers,” is already at #28 and climbing on the CHR chart and the video debuted on the Air1 website and is being distributed to video outlets. “The song is a banner for anyone who has felt rejected by their peers,” says Mosley, “whether it’s because of how they look, something that’s different about them, or because they’re trying to follow Jesus in a world that looks at that as strange. But the song is also a callout for us to open our eyes and see the ‘least of these’ that Jesus talked about who are all around us.”

Me In Motion, which is comprised of Mosley, Tim Wilson (bass/background vocals) and Brian Dexter (drums/background vocals), was formed by Mosley after working two years in a recording studio following high school graduation. After realizing he didn’t want to “sit in one place all the time,” was when he brought Wilson and Dexter on board to begin the musical journey as Me In Motion. The talent of the group immediately brought them attention which led to 140 tour dates in 2008 and Me In Motion reached 165-dates in 2009. But more than playing Brit-influenced rock, it’s the message that Me In Motion wants to impact with their audiences.

“I always find myself going back to the theme of wanting to make a difference,” Seth explains, “to live out our faith, even when it might be the hardest thing in the world to do. My heart for myself, the band, the kids and families that hear Me In Motion’s music is that all of us will be inspired to break out of these little bubbles that we so often find ourselves retreating into and to show everybody a little bit of Jesus’ love every day.”

For more information on Me In Motion please visit, www.myspace.com/meinmotion or www.centricitymusic.com.

“I’m trying to write songs that will inspire people to ‘live’ in a way they never have before, to realize that loving everyone, regardless of circumstance, is what it’s really all about. Doing simple things like helping their neighbors, or sitting by a lonely kid at the lunch table at school, or giving someone an open ear–It’s often those little things that let people around us know how much they’re really loved.”

It’s not that there haven’t been other 3-piece rock bands capable of producing a towering barrage of sound. And it’s not there haven’t been other hard-touring indie outfits that racked up tens of thousands of miles and tens of thousands of fans before they stepped up to the majors and signed a label deal, either. In this particular case though, the thing that really sets Centricity Music’s new artist Me In Motion apart from their peers is the speed with which they’ve reached this point—that and the fact that none of it seems to have gone to their heads.

Formed in mid-2006 by then-nineteen-year-old writer-artist-producer-wunderkind Seth Mosley, Me In Motion had by 2008 already grabbed the attention of GMA producer-of-the-year Ian Eskelin, signed a development deal and began the regular commute from Ohio to Nashville to write and record a full length project. When Centricity Music bought the masters and signed the band in 2009, Seth’s production skills had already so rapidly matured that he was the obvious choice to produce the remaining handful of songs for the band’s self-titled debut. Or, as Eskelin remarked when he heard the new batch of hooky, brit-rock influenced demos: “Dang. Those guys don’t need me anymore.” Flash forward a few short months. Mosley has not only produced the back half of Me In Motion’s record, he’s producing or co-producing several tracks on the next Newsboys album, many of which he also co-wrote. Not to mention the fact that Me In Motion is already signed to tour with the Newsboys.

Okay, time out. Let’s rewind for a second. Who are these guys again? And didn’t anybody see this coming?

“It’s a bit ironic,” Seth laughs, “that the first CD I ever owned was the Newsboys Take Me To Your Leader. I would stay up all night cranking up that thing in my walkman. I was enamored with music and concerts from a pretty young age, started learning guitar when I was twelve and played on stage for the first time at fifteen. I started a little recording studio in my parents’ basement and all through high school I was producing and writing for my friends’ bands, as well as leading worship for youth services at my church.”

After high school, Mosley planned to pursue a music degree in Nashville. In fact, he had already completed a week of freshman orientation when he got a call offering him a full-time studio production job in Ohio. After some intense soul-searching, Seth packed up, left Nashville and took the production gig. It was while working there that he met bassist Tim Wilson and drummer Brian Dexter who would eventually form the remaining two-thirds of Me In Motion.

“Working long days there,” Seth explains, “made me realize pretty quick that there was something deep down inside pushing me toward being an artist. I had so many songs in my head screaming to be heard. I didn’t care if it was ever a big commercial success or not. I just knew I couldn’t spend the next twenty years sitting in a recording studio. Enter Me In Motion. We formed the band, hit the road and haven’t looked back since.”

In Seth’s world, “since” is a scant three years (but hey, in his defense, that’s about 15% of his life so far…). In that short span though, the fledgling band has toured almost full-time, winning over hundreds of audiences with their loud, sweaty, no-holds-barred rock n’ roll stage show that showcases their passionate blend of raw pop and worship and their almost insane level of interaction with fans.

“From the very beginning,” Seth explains, “Tim, Brian and I wanted Me In Motion to be remembered by fans as the band that was always available and accessible. That’s why we hang out at the merchandise table before and after our shows, just to connect with the kids who come out to see us. And it really has a big impact on people when you take that time with them instead of just getting up on stage, playing your set and splitting. It really matters to kids and a lot of them leave messages on our facebook page afterwards to let us know. We also post a new online video content weekly and do a lot of twittering to make fans feel even more a part of our community. One of our primary missions is to make sure that Me In Motion never loses that aspect of who we are.”

Even as they were grinding out show after show and connecting with fans those first couple of years, the band was also honing their chops and defining their sound, ultimately staking their claim in that corner of the musical landscape that includes influences like Jet, Foo Fighters, Switchfoot, Oasis, The Killers, Weezer, The Bravery and the Beatles.

“I don’t think there’s a much better education than what you get being on the road,” Seth says. “A few years of being a traveling band sleeping on couches and floors and hearing so many different life stories has an effect on you. It all figures into what we sound like and write about now. Musically, we’ve landed in a place that’s a lot more straight up rock n’ roll than we would have done before. But that’s because we’ve discovered it’s what we love to play live and we’ve embraced the ‘less is more’ philosophy in a musical sense, just stripping it back and rocking out.”

A huge part of Me In Motion’s unique identity as a group is expressed in their first radio single Losers. The aggressive, groove-based anthem instantly emerged as a huge crowd pleaser and as a song with power to affirm and motivate listeners.

“Losers is a banner song for anyone who has ever felt rejected by their peers,” Seth says, “whether it’s because of how they look, something that’s different about them, or because they’re trying to follow Jesus in a world that looks at that as strange. But the song is also a callout for us to open our eyes and see the ‘least of these’ that Jesus talked about who are all around us. My favorite line in Losers says, ‘Maybe that’s a four-eyed Jesus, coming from a broken home…’. So the song is saying let’s look at people through eyes of mercy and compassion as Jesus would and let’s love them as if they were Jesus because he told us as we do unto them, we do unto him.”

Other standout songs on the project include the Coldplay-esque ballad Back To You (a personalized nod to the prodigal son narrative), the infectious, caffeine-on-eleven rollercoaster ride of Leaving Here Someday, and the energetically bright and dark (uh…you’ll understand when you hear it…) show-opener Gotta Be Something, which sets out to deconstruct our culture’s shallow view of happiness and refocus our attention on something more enduring.

“Gotta Be Something is kind of a manifesto,” Seth observes. “It’s saying that we reject what the world sells us as the definition of what it really means to live life to the fullest. This world’s misconstrued ideas of happiness and success don’t really mean anything in the grand scheme, so let’s stop chasing them. When we sing that it’s as much a reminder to us as it is to our audience.”

That same tendency towards introspective conviction even played into the band’s name choice. Me In Motion was inspired by Russian writer Leo Tolstoy’s quote: “Everybody thinks about changing the world, but nobody thinks about changing himself.” The idea of seeing oneself as a work in progress. Of seeing the sanctification process as a joint venture between the Spirit of God and a human heart emerged early on as one of the band’s central tenets.

“I always find myself going back to the theme of wanting to make a difference,” Seth explains, “to live out our faith, even when it might be the hardest thing in the world to do. My heart for myself, the band, the kids and families that hear Me In Motion’s music is that all of us will be inspired to break out of these little bubbles that we so often find ourselves retreating into and to show everybody a little bit of Jesus’ love every day. It’s a bit of a scary thought because I personally like to have a 10-step guide for what to do and how to do it rather than just a basic rule that says, ‘Alright, get out there and love God and people as much as you can!’ But isn’t that what faith is for at the end of the day? Living a true life of love, I’ve found, is never the easy life. But it’s the real life. It’s the only life that fulfills who we’re meant to be.”

Red Joins Pillar For Tour
Essential Records GRAMMY Award nominated rock band RED announces the launch of its 2010 “Nothing And Everything” tour. The tour will additionally feature fellow hard rock band and labelmate, Pillar and special guests The Wedding and Me In Motion. Kicking off Jan. 14 at Fort Smith Event Center, in Ft. Smith, AR, the tour is a meeting of two rock powerhouse bands: RED, who established itself among the upper echelon of rock bands in just three short years, and Pillar, who helped to pioneer the Christian hard music movement. Touring together for the first time, both bands will bring their signature brand of rock to one stage for a riveting concert event. Randy Armstrong of RED, comments, “At our shows, we always play off the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd. We know how enthusiastic our fans are and imagine Pillar’s fans are just as wild. The combination is going to be explosive. This will be the rock tour of all rock tours.” “RED has a similar stage dynamic, which makes this a powerful ticket,” says Pillar frontman Rob Beckley. “We are excited they asked us to be a part of the tour and look forward to putting on a show our fans, and theirs, can be proud of.” Nashville-based RED, made up of Michael Barnes (vocals), Anthony Armstrong (guitar) Randy Armstrong (bass), and Joe Rickard (drums), has logged an impressive 1,000+ live shows since releasing its debut album End Of Silence in 2006. RED’s GRAMMY nominated sophomore project, Innocence & Instinct (2/7/09) released with more than 40,000 in first week sales and climbed its way to the Top 5 on iTunes Top Albums chart. Night” on GOD TV will include footage from the live concert and the network’s youth presenters Chip-K and Emma Owen interviewing the band’s lead vocalist Martin Smith, guitarist Stu G, keyboardist Tim Jupp, bassist Jon Thatcher and drummer Paul Evans, who took over for Delirious? founding member Stew Smith in 2008. The program will also include a video countdown of the Top 10 Delirious? songs of all time, as voted by GOD TV viewers. GOD TV’s potential viewing audience of half-a-billion viewers worldwide is being encouraged to visit the network’s website to choose their favorite track out of 15 songs the band has short-listed. The online poll closes on Dec. 15. “Delirious? was formed in the UK at much the same time as GOD TV was birthed in 1995 and it has been our privilege to feature these anointed worshippers many times over the past 14 years,” said GOD TV co-founder and Director of Television, Wendy Alec. “We at GOD TV want to commend the band members for all they have done and especially for the many lives they have helped bring into the Kingdom of God. I have no doubt their music will continue to impact people across the globe for many years to come.” In addition to the upcoming live CD/DVD, Delirious? released its History Makers: Greatest Hits CD worldwide last month on Kingsway (Survivor) with EMI CMG Distribution. The album includes the definitive Delirious? songs that inspired a generation of worshippers to live life “out loud,” and that continue to be sung today throughout the world by literally millions of people every week. Included in this collection are such genre defining modern worship classics as “I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever,” “Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble,” “Majesty,” “My Glorious” and “Shout To The North.” Known as the forerunners of the modern worship movement and as one of the industry’s best live bands, Delirious? over the last decade have closed for the Pope in front of a million people in Germany, played in front of hundreds of thousands in India, headlined the 2004 Olympic Celebrations at the Omonia Square in Athens, Greece, toured with Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and Matchbox 20, and headlined at SWR3’s Arena of Sound 2004 music festival, where more than 80,000 fans filled the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart, Germany. Having released 14 albums and selling nearly three million recordings, and with seven Top 40 general market UK chart singles and two Top 30 general market UK chart albums, Delirious? grew out of the UK “Cutting Edge” youth meetings in the early 1990s. Regarded internationally as the galvanizing force that changed the face of worship worldwide, Delirious? members currently have 22 songs on the CCLI charts. With its music being played and sold in over 100 countries, the band has also been honored with two Gospel Music Association International Awards.

His recording of the Stevie Wonder classic “Higher Ground” with gospel legends The Clark Sisters has been nominated for “Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals.” The track appears on the multi-artist gospel compilation Oh Happy Day. This is Randolph’s fourth Grammy Award nomination. His debut album, 2003’s Unclassified, was nominated for “Best Rock Gospel Album,” while the track “Squeeze” was nominated for “Best Rock Instrumental Performance.” Randolph was also included in a group nomination for “Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance” for “You Are So Beautiful” off of Sam Moore’s 2006 album Overnight Sensational. It is the first new song from the group in three years. The Family Band released their last album, Colorblind, on Warner Bros. Records in 2006. The band is currently finishing their third studio album with acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett, a Grammy-Award winner for his work on the best-selling O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack.
LIVING SACRIFICE Lay Down The “Rules Of Engagement”
Metal legends LIVING SACRIFICE are giving fans their first taste of one of 2010’s most anticipated hard rock releases, The Infinite Order, out January 26 on Solid State Records. The first single, “Rules of Engagement,” is available today for purchase on iTunes and for streaming on the band’s MySpace page. “Rules of Engagement just came out as a really strong song musically,” says singer and guitarist Bruce Fitzhugh, who, with the rest of LIVING SACRIFICE, is celebrating 20 years of genre-defining metal. “It was one of the last songs that we wrote for the record and it came together really well. It was one that we wrote in pre-production. We all agreed that it would be the song that we wanted for the video.” The video will be making its debut shortly. LIVING SACRIFICE has also opened the gates for album pre-orders, with several options available, including added value such as DVDs and t-shirts. Options can be viewed here. The band’s seventh full-length overall, and first since 2002’s acclaimed Conceived In Fire, The Infinite Order finds the band returning to its thrash roots for an unapologetic reminder as to exactly why so many of today’s heavy music leaders hold LIVING SACRIFICE and their legacy in such high esteem. “You can hear LIVING SACRIFICE’s legacy in the entire generation of bands who’ve come after them… And those bands still haven’t caught up,” says Tim Lambesis of AS I LAY DYING. “LIVING SACRIFICE definitely helped pave the way for our band’s crossover,” chimes in UNDEROATH’s Tim McTague. Produced by Jeremiah Scott (DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY) and mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD, AS I LAY DYING), The Infinite Order finds LIVING SACRIFICE once again pushing the envelope of the metal genre, incorporating new dynamics and thrashier / more aggressive elements into a formula sure to appeal to fans throughout the metal diaspora. “The music is fast, heavy and thrashy,” Fitzhugh said to AOL Noisecreep. “We love metal and playing heavy music. We didn’t wimp out at all.” Let the countdown begin.

Leeland Receives Grammy Nomination
Houston-based, progressive rock band Leeland celebrates its third career GRAMMY nomination, as announced this week, with its latest album Love Is On The Move (8/25) nominated for the year’s Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album. The band’s first two albums, Sound of Melodies (8/15/2006) and its sophomore Opposite Way (2/26/2008), were previously recognized in this category, continuing a streak of GRAMMY honors for each of the outfit’s three projects to date. Leeland continues to influence a generation of new worshippers with its latest GRAMMY-nominated project. The title track marks a clear mission statement for Leeland, which poetically unfolded during the writing process. A response to both physical and spiritual poverty, the lyrics of “Love Is On The Move” poignantly discuss a service-filled transformation. Love Is On The Move is produced by award-winning, veteran producer Ed Cash, and by co-producer Steve Wilson who produced and co-wrote with the band on its breakthrough debut album. The album’s first radio single, “Follow You,” performed with Brandon Heath, holds at No. 9 on Billboard’s AC Indicator chart this week. Leeland recently wrapped its 43-city, co-headlined “Follow You Tour” with Heath and special guest Francesca Battistelli, pulling together one of the most successful Christian music events of the 2009 fall touring season, playing to 50,000 fans in and inspiring 1,051 children sponsorships through a partnership with Food for the Hungry. Hailing from Houston, Texas, GRAMMY-nominated progressive rock act Leeland has been known to deliver songwriting beyond its years and worshipful rock so genuine it disarms the honest cynic. Often quoted as one of Christian music’s most gripping live bands, the 2006 debut Sound of Melodies and 2008’s Opposite Way quickly established Leeland as a leader in the worship community and beyond. Both previous albums were GRAMMY nominated and drew a combined eight Dove nominations. The band’s latest album Love Is On The Move was recently nominated for a GRAMMY in the Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album category. In February 2009, Leeland and Jack Mooring were selected by the White House to participate in the Compassion in Action Roundtable spotlighting the innovative leadership of an emerging generation of social entrepreneurs in America. On top of non-stop touring across the U.S. and Japan, the band also partners with Christian relief organization Food for the Hungry, and has recently taken outreach trips to Africa and Asia, and attended Hillsong Church’s 2008 Conference in Australia. Leeland is: Leeland Mooring (lead vocals, guitar); Jack Mooring (keyboard, background vocals); Jake Holtz (bass); and Mike Smith (drums).

Randy Armstrong of RED, comments, “At our shows, we always play off the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd. We know how enthusiastic our fans are and imagine Pillar’s fans are just as wild. The combination is going to be explosive.
