What Lies Below - 2026

Today, HM is proud to premiere an early listen of the seismic new single from metalcore breakouts What Lies Below, “Monolith,” as the band makes the final stop on the way towards their upcoming full-length, I Let it Consume Me.

The new track offers resonating riffs and a potent vocal, as the East Coast heavy outfit look inwards with an introspective commentary on accountability and self-improvement.

With electrifying live performances and a resonating soundscape, What Lies Below channel some of their pre-eminent heavy heroes, from ERRA to Periphery, whilst exploring new sonic ground, cutting through distinguished production and layered guitars with a resonating viscerality.

Thematically however, What Lies Below stay grounded and unerringly relatable. The songs delve into the complexities of human emotions and experiences, exploring themes of personal struggles, relationships, and inner battles, and “Monolith” is no exception.

Vocalist Andrew Watson shares more with HM about the single:

“‘Monolith’ is the second song in the overall story of I Let it Consume Me. This song uncovers personal grief and the “person” finding themselves in front of their own darkness. The person begins to look inwards and discover a lot of what brought them there is their own actions and this is the first step to overcoming and growing from them.”

Following on from April’s “Leech,” “Monolith” strikes with a sonic intensity, seamlessly blending raw, unabridged aggression with moments of melodic beauty; the final teaser before the full-length this summer.

I Let It Consume Me is set to drop July 10th, via Theoria Records, and What Lies Below are set to join Acres on their UK/EU tour this autumn. All dates are below.
