XXX

Attempting to create a James Bond character for the modern age is a brilliant idea; and the makers of XXX were able to pull this off with all the irreverence, wit, and action of the original. Sure, the language is a bit nasty and the caricatures get a bit over the top (factors to be considered before letting your six-year old not watch the flick), but it did set a new standard in action. Vin Diesel is the perfect casting choice for this character, and the continuation of the car-loving theme found in Fast & The Furious adds plenty of adrenalin. The concepts of testing a recruit with life-endangering exams, the expendability of the proven agents, and the infiltration of evil with the appearance of evil are all troubling notions that are deftly brought up. The multiple extras boost the already-high energy content. Nice. One morbid but hilarious scene is the dead agent “crowd surfing” as a corpse during the Rammstein show. It’ll be interesting to see if the creators can make the adjustments necessary for longevity and a series. [Doug Van Pelt - Columbia Tristar]

bad acting...cheesy lines...AND A FREAKING '67 GTO!!! it gets no better than that guys...

this movie was just lame and nothing else. It was as cheesy as a movie can possibly get.

Man, was this movie dissapointing or what! There are enough Bond movies to fill my cravings for a one-man world hero. I'm hoping that they fail at finding a way to keep this going.

If you're looking to let your mind go to sleep for two or so hours sign yourself up for this movie. Apart from a few good scenes and a decent soundtrack there is very little to stimulate the brain cells. Vin Diesel does okay in his role, but the supporting cast leaves a good deal to be desired. The most repugnant part of the movie is the sad one liners and how frivoulous they are with sexual inuindos. Some things they just throw in their for no reason other than to show a half naked woman. Also, a good deal of it is just too unbelievable.

I thought it was a good flick[ I got to see an advanced screening/ as I did Daredevil last week hehehe]
I thought as the movie went on the production value started to wane,,,

Just one thing to say
" You Slap Me Again I Throw You A Beaten"

I was hoping it was a movie on the current status of how much the straight edge scene sux, and what do you know, it's a movie about a dood with three x's tatted on him who totally isn't edge. well, it was everything I expected.

my basic comment is something along the order of "he must've started smoking as a three-year old, or he has a toaster stuck in his throat"... as for the comment about him being straight-edge? in the movie he was...though i seriously doubt it in real life.

A really good film, if only for the special effects. I watched this movie, and what felt like twenty minutes of the film was really an hour and a half. It is that good. The acting was a little off-par, and he tried to hard to be a bad-ass while reamining good. This movie had some little twists and turns in it that kept it from being boring. Case in point the Czech police officer. He gets "killed", and later is alive and working for the enemy. It's little twists like that that kept it interesting. However, the typical action scenes are in this movie as well. If there is something you can take away from any action movie it is this.

1. Bad guys always have terrible aim.
2. No matter what the CIA says, ignore them. You will always be right.
3. Jumping with a bike will enable you to shoot the bad guy perfectly, while them remaining stationary will cause them to miss all the time.

This movie was a little unbelievable, but very well done. Watch it if you want to kill two hours, only keep an open mind on it.
