Vow To Cherish, A

This is a "Hallmark Moment" type movie that's ideal for tv and done very well. There's no breathtaking cinematography and there's not the rich depth of a Hollywood summer blockbuster, but there is beautiful footage and fine acting (especially by lead actress Barbara Babcock). The most outstanding feature, however, is how delicately and beautifully they handled the very real human suffering known as Alzheimer's. A bold movie for a film maker, but a noble task for World Wide Pictures that testifies of their character.
The screenwriters used several common tricks with tension and assumption, such as the near brush with a vibrant, healthy female friend and wrestling that Ken Howard's character goes through over this, which translates into a knock on the door with an unexpected person on the other side. The on-location documentary and insightful Director's Commentary by John Schmidt are nice additions. [WORLD WIDE PICTURES] // Doug Van Pelt
