Spiderman
It’s a wonderful thing when a movie lives up to its hype. Spidey more than accomplished this with its simple story that stayed true to Stan Lee’s comic story, yet was dazzling enough to thrill the eyes. The audience is presented the excitement and humor of Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) discovering his super powers, the awkwardness of his first love, and the wisdom of his Uncle Ben, who feeds him a line that guides the rest of his life -- "with great power comes great responsibility." While the Green Goblin character is a bit over the top, the human drama keeps the movie as relatable as a tale like this can possibly be. The ton of extras really make this a special package, offering insight into the stunts, casting, costuming, and spider wrangling, as well as some historical perspective on this classic comic. The outrageously goofy Sum 41 video is a load of fun, as well. [COLUMBIA TRISTAR / Doug Van Pelt]
