Shooter

Mark Wahlberg once again does a great job as the lead role as an independent character in a journey from the backwoods to the upper echelons in no time. (You can almost see a pattern in the roles he's playing lately -- remember Rock Star and Invincible?) The ironic and menacing twists in the plot help explain what pushes Bob Lee Swagger to such extreme ends as a fugitive. A totally cool guy movie. [Paramount] DV
