Mortification : Conquer The World

MortDVD.jpg

The graphics and packaging for this DVD is impeccable. The editing and menus are smart, quick, and minimal. What you’ve basically got is a cool video montage/scrapbook of Mort’s 2001 World Tour, which touched down in South Africa, Germany, Norway, USA, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina (among others). You see a few low budget concept videos, and all the live footage covers just portions of songs. It’s really a fun watch, but the big bummer is that Nuclear Blast is only releasing this in Europe on Europe’s Region 2 PAL version, meaning it won’t play on our DVD players in the USA (unless, of course, you have a dual player that will flawlessly play both NTSC and PAL versions). I was able to view this on my wife’s notebook computer DVD player, which will allow me to switch regions 5 times and then ceases to switch between versions. This is really a shame, as it offers an up-close look at a fairly big band with a big heart and a big sense of humor. Available via mail-order at www.RoweProductions.com.
