Monty Python...and the Holy Grail

If you're not familiar with this movie, this is where the Veggie Tales people got those French Peas characters for Josh & The Big Wall. Nothing was ever sacred with this infamous British comedy troup, and few would argue that this movie was their finest moment.
While the language is earthy, the humor is steeped in old church tradition -- King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. What makes this release special for Python fans (who probably already own the first DVD release of this title) is that it's packed with extras -- two discs' worth, including: the Lego presentation that's been making the rounds on the www, a new 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack, a BBC "On Location" featurette, sing-alongs (like the Monk ditty, complete with forehead-striking instructions), a running commentary from the Pythons, a coconut instruction film, some Japanese subtitle sections with some hilarious adaptations (like "...find a place of safety!" instead of "...run away! Run away!") and instead of promising to return with a shrubbery, King Arthur affirms, "We'll bring bonsai!" There's a total of 20-plus extras in all!
This is the time to re-live this classic. You can ponder whether the animated scene with God telling Arthur to stop grovelling is correct theology or not. All the extras really make re-releasing the movie worth it! [Columbia Tristar] // Doug Van Pelt
