Iron Maiden : The Number Of The Beast

CLASSIC ALBUMS:
IRON MAIDEN THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST
This Classic Albums documentary focuses on the making of the 1982 seminal metal album The Number of The Beast, of which it could almost be said single-handedly inspired the Christian heavy metal phenomenon that came a few years later, due to its groundbreaking NWOBHM sound and the devilish imagery that must've inspired more than one young musician to say, "Why can't I take this music and fuse it with lyrics about God's Word?" Whilst not a Christian rock album, the above speculation alone almost makes it required homework for any budding metal bands -- Christian or otherwise. The producer and player interviews shed insight into each song and the controversies that soon erupted from the Religious Right. One such story involves a car accident one of the studio guys had, running into a van full of nuns. When the auto repair bill came back, it was 666 pounds. Interesting stuff. More for education than edification (for those that are wondering...) [EAGLE EYE MEDIA / Doug Van Pelt]
