Demitrius and the Gladiators
This 1954 blockbuster was the sequel to The Robe. Like its predecessor, the faith of Christians are portrayed in noble and realistic terms, even in the face of the mad emperor Caligula (played by the squeaky Jay Robinson). The slave of Marcellus Gallio carries on the flame of faith after his master’s final act in The Robe, but soon extenuating circumstances try and break his faith. Seeing where his journey takes him is compelling and an unflinching look at a follower losing his way. Another must-see (with the understanding of the limitations of its era).
