CSI: Season Two [boxset]

DVD CSI2.jpg

Season 2 of this brilliant series finds itself hitting a stride and effectively exploring the characters that make up this night crew. Gus Grissom (William Petersen)’s hearing problem and Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger)’s hard past life, for example, broaden the characters a little bit with each revelation. The multiple bonus footage in this set (including audio commentaries on three episodes) surpasses Season 1. “The Making Of A Hit” featurette, for example, ties together a lot of character stories. One hilarious documentary quote about the grisly “Anatomy of a Lye” episode shows the dead character in makeup, who quips, “I think we’re saving a lot of money in catering right now, because nobody wants to eat.” [Paramount / Doug Van Pelt]
