Charlie's Angels II: Full Throttle

I had to see this movie for a strange reason – Michael Sweet had told me that he'd sent the movie cast 25 Stryper t-shirts, because there was a flashback scene where one of the characters shot someone and everyone in the scene was wearing a Stryper shirt. There was also the possibility of a Stryper tune or two showing up in the flick. Well, I'm sure I've located the scene. Dylan (Drew Barrymore) and her bad-boy boyfriend are cruising around in his muscle car jamming out to Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer." I guess she's wearing a Stryper shirt (you can never see the print) and no extras sporting the yellow & black are in sight. Oh well, chalk it up to editing. Too bad. Now I've got 3+ hours of time that I've gotta answer for.

"How did I spend my time on Earth? Well, I did waste that time watching all that cleavage and high speed action on Charlie's Angels II: Full Throttle." The motocross footage and some of the action is fun; and I've got to admit that the CSI spoof at this one crime scene (even featuring the classic "Who Are You?" tracking in the background) is pretty hilarious. Yeah, this movie is over-the-top campy and seems little more than an excuse to tantalize men with scantily-dressed babes on the screen. Good thing I've penned this review before we tweaked our rating system; otherwise I'd have to watch it again for ratings. (We are changing the "Nude Scenes/Naked People" rating to be "Nudity/Sexuality," so that overt sexuality can be counted even if it's not sans clothing). On a par with Bay Watch, only funny.

The extras, however, once they get serious about the action (especially the motocross stunts), it becomes a thrilling watch. It's put together well, with fun graphics and jamming tunes. I mean, anytime you're watching backflips on motorcycles, it's still radical. [Columbia Tristar / Doug Van Pelt]
