Basic

First off, I need to mention the awesome 5.1 Surround mix for this DVD. All the sounds of the woods in this black ops / special forces action flick come creeping and snapping behind you with intense volume. Wow! The commentaries are entertaining as well, offering insight into necessary and/or quality ingredients in a good suspense film. John Travolta shines bright in his role as the ex/ousted interrogator/investigator that’s looking into the deaths of several members of an outfit that were in a late night exercise gone bad. While not sharing the scenes with Samuel L. Jackson, this pair “share” starring roles effectively. Riveting and tense right up until the end. Very entertaining, especially for those that dig criminal meets secret meets military meets mystery. [Columbia Tristar / Doug Van Pelt]
