Eisley

105 CD Eisley.jpg

LAUGHING CITY
This lil’ gem showcases everything that’s wonderful about Eisley – dreamy, lush vocals that float like clouds over a solid rhythm section that’ll trip your mind up with a waltz-like promenade one minute (case in point, the child-like “Tree Tops”) and a tight slugfest the next (as in “Over The Mountains”). This three sisters, one brother and an additional player on bass outfit is simply a breath of fresh air and atmospheric ear candy. Not many new artists get invited to tour with Coldplay twice, mind you. The only downfall with this 5-song EP, and its follow-up last month, is that they are seemingly released prior to a proper debut full length just to stave off a waiting following… Well, now the pressure is on to craft 10-plus songs that are as good or better than these “repeat as necessary” standout songs.

eisley is an amazing band...ive heard their local cd recorded and then burned onto a cdr and thats amazing...i havent heard this ep yet though...they used to be called moss eisley and they were a local band from houston...their music is so beautiful

Aaron is correct in saying that they were formerly Moss Eisley (years ago they were "the towheads"). But they aren't from Houston, they're actually from Tyler out in east TX not far from the Louisianna border. My band has had a few opportunities to play with them and they're a great band. As far as their EP goes, it's good, however I actually prefer the first song, "Telescope Eyes", the way they used to play it before their producer made some changes. They may still have that version of the song available on their website to listen to. www.eisley.com Check their site out, it's incredible. They also just released another EP called marvelous things and i believe will start preproduction for a full length CD in early '04 TeWFuS

I haven't met Eisley and I don't know them like some of the other people but I have to say they are the most amazing band I've ever heard. I was recently turned on to their music after Jesse Lacey of Brand New made mention of the them on Fuse's IMX. They then proceeded to play their new music video which I think is for the song Marvelous Things. Anyways from that point on I was hooked. I just bought both EPs and I'm in love. There music is stunning, it's amazing, it's beautiful, and it's so real. If anyone out there has not heard their music, you have to check it out ASAP, I'm telling you this is urgent, go to their websit today!!! (www.eisley.com) Okay I suppose I'm going a bit overboard but I really do love their music I can't wait until they finish their full length. I hope I get the chance to see them live one day I get to met them cause they seem like really awesome people, and I wish the best for them.

They sound a lot like Sixpence to me. Must be a Texas thing...don't get me wrong I enjoyed it.

Didn't this used to be Hard Music Magazine, nee Heaven's Metal Magazine?

is Eisley a Christian band? i was just wondering...

This group is great, I heard them live at a show back in their hay days when they were called mos eisly. They played with a band called Awakened, who rocked as well. It was one of the best local shows i've ever seen, I'd love to see those two groups together again. It was an awsome show.

Perhaps one of the most talent filled bands around, beautiful, and far-surpassing what their young ages should allow... Perhaps my one complaint is that it seems ever since Warner Bros. took an interest with the last two EP's the sound has softened and become more dreamy. Not that it's a bad thing, but from hearing them live and from hearing their EP2 I found that they also could be a bit harder than their latest EPs express. I think they shouldn't lose that less they just become a dreamy sounding act. I believe they need to bring just a touch of the earlier grit back. =) Oh, they also need to be at Cornerstone this year (we missed you in 2003...) =(
