Wisdom Call

Wisdom Call

Wisdom Call, which consists of members from the bands Narnia and Stormwind, has released their debut album full of 80s styled power metal. The biggest influence you'll probably notice is Narnia, because their lead singer, Christian Liljegren, is the singer here. I personally like Narnia better, but Wisdom Call, who has signed with Massacre Records, is no slouch either. The production is not as sharp as Narnia's latest, but is nothing to really complain about. The musicianship, as expected, is superb; very technical power metal, with lots of heavy riffing and awesome guitar solos. The lyrics are well written, except for a cheesy moment in the song “Power from the Sky,” where the band claims, “We love to play power metal from the sky.” The standout cut here is easily “Never Satisfied,” which is a blood-pumping rocker. The song “15 Years” by Modest Attraction, one of three cover songs, is the biggest disappointment. This song just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the album. Wisdom Call has put together a solid release with very nice packaging, but with the talent this band has, I'm thinking that they are capable of much more.
