TFK

Thousand Foot Krutch first broke onto the scene with their indie Set It Off and its bass groovin’, getcho-hands-up, jump-up-in-da-air, rapcore/punk vibe. This energy was tempered a bit, but still present on their T&N debut, Phenomenon. Now, with the rapcore era firmly in the past, in terms of the greater commercial consciousness, TFK continues with the redefinition of their sound on Breaking. The boys don’t completely abandon their rap-rock roots, as several tracks ring with a groove that is sure to leave heads bobbing, but Trevor McNeevan opts for a rhythmic singing method over hip/hop delivery. Only he could get away with lines like, “watch me get wicked and drop like hand grenades,” but otherwise, the cheese factor is low. TFK makes a point to push themselves into new explorations, such as the impressive, squealing lead guitar in the title track and “Go,” and short but sweet solos in “Stranger” and “Hand Grenade.” Nothing jaw-dropping, but certainly something new for this band. TFK does more than simply survive the commercial demise of rapcore on this solid but not spectacular release. [Tooth & Nail] Tim Hallila

I loved "Phenonmenon" so much that I pre-ordered "The Art Of Breaking" and when I popped it in my CD player I must say that I wasn't impressed at first. As I began listening more and more, I found myself taking a liking to this record. You can definitely tell it's a TFK album, and it may take a couple times to listen all the way through, but I promise you once you listen, you'll cathc on and enjoy this record. This is a different album than "Phenomenon" so don't expect a Phenomenon pt.II, because you will not get it, but enjoy it anyway.

I thought that The Art of Breaking was good, but it only had a few really good songs. After listening through it a couple times it starts to grow on you and you find yourself singing along. TFK is definatley on their way up, but not with this cd.

TFK is a very un-talented band.....i mean i can appriciate some of the stuff.....but most of it is garbage....Rawkfist?.....worst song of all time....i piss people off a lot because of what i say about TFK....but even the most die hard fans have agreed with most of my points....so i dont get it....if there obviously not very good....why does everyone love em?...then again the majority of popular christian music isnt that great....but my question is still why does everyone love em?....and this isnt a critical question....i really want to know....so if you like em plese tell me....have a good one....God bless

blah blah blah, thousand foot krutch aren't good at all, but they still sell tons and tons of records. lets get over this fact and listen to good music, i.e. tooth and nail free music.

sounds like a poor impresion of Pillar.

I liked the first CD when it came out, like the second one less, and this one -- well, I listened to it a couple times thru and am pretty bored. Nothing great. The big problem: they're forgettable.

I really enjoyed Thousand Foot Krutch's third album, The Art of Breaking was I believe TFK's most lyrically deep album cranking it up on the lyrics and experimenting trying something new with there sound. You know's it's TFK when you listen to it but when you try something new some people will like it and some won't but TFK's growth with God is there.

I've been a TFK fan since the "Set It Off/ That's What People Do" days... and being a bit older, I wish the rapcore "fad" never died. So I know no one will agree with my opinions... Which is cool. This album is okay. At first the only song I really liked was "Move", I let the rest grow on me,but it's not their best cd, in fact, I think it may be their poorest effort.
Even while listening to the chorus of "Move" I kept waiting for Ludacris to break in with "Get out the way, get out the way." So there is some "cheese" factor there.

wrong URL.

I likt this one but its def. not a phonominon(sp?)
its prety good

its my turn for me life story: I've liked it from what I've heard so far - I thought Phenomenon was pretty good and i had pretty high expectations for The Art Of Breaking and these guys do rock, although they're changing their style a little between each album. was it just me or do some of the song's lyrics seem a little repetitive?? i don't know but thats what my first impression was of this album. but regardless man i like this album. buy it

I read the comment about Rawkfest. That is an old term from punk roots. Maybe it is just me being an old geezer. choff weeze

TFK has gone down hill, set it off was thier best record,
colin pal what do you have against tooth and nail, first of all they give a start to alot of hardcore bands, second they own solidstate, solidstate boasts demon hunter, underoath, norma jean, extol showbread, and T&N has project 86 so really whats your problem with the T&N famil? and what labels do you listen to?

TFK is awesome! i really enjoyed phenomenon and the songs had a lot of meaning to me! i didnt like set it off too much b/c i am not a huge rap fan, but the art of breaking is AMAZING! Thanx for helping me grow as a christian!

Thousand foot rocks! I'll admit their newest album isn't as good as Phenomenon, but it still has some good songs. You people who like to diss Christian rock bit, all you do is bring me and others down. If you don't like Christian rock, then don't listen to it!

ok... personally i foudn tht set it off was really cheezy.... and they've gone for a more rock kidna style.. so a lot fo the original fans will not like them as much... but i love the new album.. i personally think its the strongest of them all...

Don't know whats up with all the negative comments, because TFK in my opinion is one of the most talented bands i have ever heard. I do miss the rap style though. I blew out my 12" alpine speakers with that one!! God Bless you all!

well... I listen to about half n half when it comes to chirstian and non-christian music and Thousand Foot Krutch is nothing short of incredible in both worlds. I think unless you're going to post your apparently flawless points to putting down TFK then you need to stay quiet. I have a band myself and write music and personally I understand very well the music world. These guys have incredible talent. If you don't like 'em oh well. Find another wicked christian band but for those who appreciate bands with time well spent writing and recording because it's what they love to do and are good at it with a ton of passion...... TFK's for you.

The Art of Breaking takes a while to get used to. Phenomenon was an awesome album, and I thought that The Art of Breaking would not be as good, but I found myself extremely satisfied.

I thought the art of breaking was so good, the words mean so much and Trevor has developed a great sining voice, i don't really know why someone would bad mouth an amazingly talented band unless they have no life and just put down bands all day. Set it off was awsome as well as Phenomenon, each album has a different music style, which is cool because if you like rock/hip hop, set it off is the one for you, but if your like straight rock with great beat then phenonenon is perfect for you, and there new album has so much meaning with a great sound, i love the guitar and singing in it. there next album should have all concepts in one, but overall TFK is amazing, its my favorite band and is the only one i can't get board of.

I preordered it cause I loved Phenomenom
and the re-release of Set it Off, and also after hearing "Absolute" on the radio.I hated the album at first ("Slow
Bleed" and "Hand Grenade" have the worst lyrics you will ever hear) but after 3 or 4 listens and hearing "Move"
on secular radio I started to enjoy the album a little move. although not their best this is still step in the right direction away from the now extinct rap core.I'll give this record a 3.5. check out "Move" and "The Art of Breaking".

UGH, you people, you cant say music is bad or good, you can say what you think, how you feel...but its a style of music that i find quite original, i really enjoy tfk, i had to let them grow on me but for the most part, i really like them.

My feeling is that many people have difficulty grasping the intent behind TFK's music because they are quite complex lyrically. Good poetry does not necessarily have to be "deep" but it usually is. In order to understand where the heart of the artist is, you have to immerse yourself in the work. My suggestion for those who are baffled by TFK, pay more attention and work a little harder!

God speaks to those who have an open ear!

TFK's lyrics in "The Art of Breaking" get to the core of Truth. Thank you TFK for sharing so openly and in such a real way. Fight the good fight!!!

I am not a huge fan of TFK...i don't think they are awful but i don't love them...the only thing i don't like is that they cancelled a show with my church and we didn't get told by them but by a radio station...they didn't have any consideration to call and tell us....i think that is pretty low.

I love Tfk. they are so amazing. the lyrics are deep and you might have to listen to them a few times, but they hold so much power. No matter what anyone says, God is Definatly going to use this band to change some peoples hearts. i know it's already happened to me. Breath You In, best song... Thanks for all you do TFK!
