Ken Tamplin - Wake the Nations

When an artist determines to or is allowed to make “the album they want to make,” quite often the result reeks of purity, passion, and unusual creativeness. Put simply, it’s often the artist’s best work. Without trying to follow trends like a chameleon or be mold-able in a desperate attempt for a record deal, Tamplin delivers a melodic rock album with enough pomp and big harmony choruses to make an X-Radio station programmer nauseous to the extreme. While he doesn’t reach the heights of his famous Magdallan collaboration with Lanny Cordola, Wake The Nations scores points with lyrical wit (see “Cell Phone Junkie,” “Jihad” and “Hare Christians” for a hoot) and he avoids that annoying high end excess of almost every single rock solo outing since It Won’t Be Long. Nice job. [SONGHAUS] DOUG VAN PELT

It's good to know that Ken wasn't dead... or in exhile. I've scanned through the album. I like it... but where's the rest of SHOUT?!?!? HA ha ha

I'm with you, Spike. Where the heck has he been? Tamplin's music basically helped keep me sane in high school (I'm from a small and repressed town in a southern state of the Union). Although it be ancient now, at the time Tamplin and Shout were the shiznit! Looking forward to hearing his "resurrection" recording.

This is simply THE BEST melodic hard rock album to date. If you read the liner notes it is a veritable who's who of shredding rock guitarists (not to mention one of the most under rated shredders being Mr. Ken Tamplin himself!) As always, his vocals are stellar. If you like melodic hard rock and you love guitar and guitar solos and you can't get enough of top shelf production along with 18 tracks including a FREE DVD with music videos you won't find a better deal anywhere than this album.
