Slow Coming Day

Farewell to the Familiar

Listening to Slow Coming Day's new release I feel like I’m in San Francisco. I like the Golden Gate city, where it’s bright and sunny but with a constant cool breeze, and maybe even a little fog that’ll catch you off guard. It's a city of integrated diversity in so many ways. And so goes this album. The lyrics are articulate, hopeful, and layered over a lovely melodic sound, but combined with an undeniable edge. And while the music is catchy, it doesn't cross over the line too far into pop-rock territory. At first glance I expected to hear the same song over and over again, but was pleasantly surprised to find musical variety with an overall cohesiveness. Unable to be in SF, this album will have to suffice. Actually, give me this CD and I'll be happy right where I am. [Tooth&Nail/ bonnie plott]
