Ruth
Anorak

Washington’s Ruth claims that their moniker is not an egotistic reference to singer/guitarist Dustin Ruth’s surname, but is instead a faith-based acronym for “Return Us To Him.” This claim proves believable with their sophomore release entitled Anorak. The album packs pop rock lacquered with uplifting melodies that only a solid collaborative rock band could conjure. And with the help of mentoring musicians acting as producers (such as Aaron Sprinkle of Fair and Chris Keene of Surrogate) the songs reek of a genuine enthusiasm to create timeless music filled with dreams and hope. The defunct Watashi Wa and Ben Gibbard should be smiling somewhere. [tooth & nail] Dan Frazier
