7 Angels 7 Plagues

An impassioned metalcore record with ZAO, Underoath, and Point Of Recognition elements to it, Jhazmyne’s Lullaby has moments with the scent of youthful brilliance, and moments that stink of an overcooked recipe and immature cliches, especially in the siren-like guitar parts. Well placed instrumental and vocal bridges set up some pummeling, bellowing verses in “The Commentator’s Despair” and “Someday.” Guitarist Matt Matera’s instrumental track, “The Afternoon,” is barren and pretty, and segues into the flowery thunder of “Away With Words.” Lyrics are of the prose diary type. Music is of the love you up and beat you down variety. [ UPRISING RECORDS / JASON DODD]
