Moriah

Where, Death, Is Your Victory?
Moriah hails from Brazil and as far as I know, this is their debut album, Where, Death, Is Your Victory? Once you get past the sub-par production you'll find a pretty decent band that plays a mixture of death, doom, thrash, and black metal with a heavy reliance on keyboards. Moriah mixes the styles of a ton of different bands, including: Ashen Mortality, Morphia, Seventh Angel, Sanctifica, Demoniciduth, Mortification, Saviour Machine, Paramaecium, and Morgion among others. You think I’m joking right? Well, those were just the ones I could think of. Many other times I just couldn’t put my finger on who they sounded like. Somehow, they mix all of these bands without deliberately copying, and it’s still listenable.
This is not a band that will blow your mind, but they surprised me in that after I finished listening, I was like...hey, that was pretty cool!

There is a great band named Moriah, and they did some great music. They did one album, and then vanished. Last I heard, they were located in the Houston area. You may remember one of their songs called "Superman." That is, if you listened to Christian "Contemporary" radio five years ago. Out.
