It's so true! I heard the exact same thing (even the same song comparisons) the first time I listened to the album and predicted the same. But you do have to give them credit for improvement. Wasn't their first album just attrocious?
I thought it was pretty cool. The guys are real and it was a huge improvement over "...Toybox." I could kinda care less about the comparisons. Justifide did a great job and I will be listening to "...Unknown" for a very long time.
I have never heard a bigger ripoff of a band's style than Justifide from POD. (well, except maybe for the 10gagillion Creed copycats out there right now - but Creed wasn't exactly the first of their style either). I bought the first album (Toybox) and as soon as I'd heard it a couple of times I was thinking "POD junior", except not nearly as talented. From what I've heard of the new album, it sounds a little more different from POD, but from this review it sounds like there still some definite personality issues with this band. I HATE copycating.
Yeah, I tried hard to like it, really i did, but its just another example of how the CMI feels the need to emulate instead of create. Rarely does it actually produce something original or at least creatively interesting like Unwed Sailor, Danielson, Roadside Monument or Denison Marrs
i TOTALLY disagree with that review. How could you even say something like that? Total LIES. i have ::Satellite::, and ::The Beauty Of The Uknown:: and there isn't even a comparision between "Messanjah" and "Face To Face"! How does "I am the messanjah!" sound anything like "Face your past, face to FACE!"?? The music is nothing alike either! And "Pointing Fingers" has a totally different message than "Anything Right"! Says lead singer and SONGWRITER (Yeah, he wrote the song, he knows what it means) Jason Monciavaiz, "It's about the hypocrisy we experience among Christians, and the judgmentalism we've felt." And what does "Anything Right" say? "Kick me while I'm down, I want you to/ I can't be like you..."
BIG difference. Just because JUSTIFIDE is a LITTLE bit like P.O.D. and once toured with them doesen't mean they are copying them at all!
They don't have Staind or Creed's sounds either, they have their own style. Just because you can;t categorize it doesen't mean you have to LIE! Thank you for reading.
justified are a great band regardless...
even if there is comparison to POD then great what a comparison. at least you know your doin somethin right ..... i think the best a the most benifit from bands is the inluence and with time your style will emulate what you really are... but like i said before justified is great they perform well there music is passionate and their doin it for the right reasons keep up the good work ...... count it all joys when called the little POD.... much love peace dominic
No way do these guys sound anything close to POD! These guys ROCK!! If hearing the influence of another band is wrong there would be no music available to us all. I just bought this CD and have listenend to it for four days straight. These three kids know how to play and there creativity is great. Listen to track 10! I love that organ !! This song has so many different influences in it they're hard to name. I pray that they keep p;aying for a long they will only get better.
bad bad bad cd.... but they're nice guys and very energetic in concert. yes they rip POD off so much it's hard to stomach. but what do you expect? there's only so far this raprock thing can stretch.
Man! How do u people keep comeing up with this "Justifide sounds like P.O.D." stuff?!?! They DON'T! I have every one of P.O.D.'s and Justifide's cds and..well..how many times do I have to say this? They do not sound alike! "Toybox" and "T.B.O.T.U" totally rock! and u just gotta show love to "Justifide" It was the first! lol! :) Oh, and u just HAVE to check them out in concert!
much love,
annah
HELLO OUT THERE!!! come on people justifide makes music like all other bands, and yes sometimes they might sound like pod and sometimes they might sound like creed but who gives a rip anyway? Justifide puts out quality music that reaches the masses with a good message and if your to stuck on the fact that they might sound like pod a little and you think they are "copycats" maybe you shouldn't listen to music at all. stop trying to cut down other peoples music just because of your opion, is that really what Jesus wants us to do? way to go justifide, keep the music comin! at least you and i know that your music honors God, and is a light to none christians
Doug,
You need to clean the wax out of your ears and get off your soapbox! Get with the times, my man. I have no doubt that POD is an inspiring group to Justifide, just as the Rolling Stones were to Aerosmith. But to say their songs are ripoffs of POD is going too far. I don't hear the similarity. The music is similar...it called a "GENRE." Megadeth sounded like Metallica, Poison like Motley Crue, and Pillar, Justifide, and POD sound alike, and I can go on and on. It's called "Influences" and it happens a lot in music. But POD and Justifide are different enough to have their own slightly different style.
What I see are three very talented young kids that can hang with the best of them. They deserve more publicity , as they are probably one of the best groups out there in that genre of music. MTV knows about them-they played their music (without singing) during one of the Tough Enough Wrestling series they were showing. Their lyrics are too Christian to play on MTV I guess.
I thought their 1st album was better than the 2nd, but they definitely avoided the sophomore jinx. I'm disappointed at your review. Not only did you miss the mark, but you lost my respect of your opinion when it comes to reviewing music. I'll never rely on what you say anymore. Sorry, that's the way it goes.
I want to let you know that I have NEVER disagreed with a music review more. I own both Satellite and The Beauty of the Unknown, and I have never thought once that Justifide is copying POD. Both bands honor God with their music, and even though I dont see a similarity in either of those songs(although some do) I dont think you, Doug, should go around slammin them. I couldnt agree with JW more, I was thinking the exact same thing as I was reading the review, and I would go throuht and tyoe what I think, but JW basically speaks for me also.
WOAH! I know this comment is a little late, but I'm glad I found this review! YOU PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!!! JUSTIFIDE ROCKS!!!! THANK YOU ALL WHO STUCK UP FOR THEM AND SHOWED WHAT YOU BELIEVED! YALL ROCK! Yeah, I don't remember who wrote this, but the thing about similarities being referred to as a GENRE is TOTALLY right, I love justifide, and I used to have this huge thing for P.O.D., but I don't anymore, because they're music doesn't speak to me the way justifide's does, and I just love these boys to the end of the earth. If you are talkin smack about em, you should go to a concert, you'll be so impressed you'll wish you never said anything. Their stage-presense is AWESOME!
much love
Sarah
oh, and yeah, I didn't appreciate the review....I forgot to say that
much love
Sarah
These P.O.D. and Justifide comparisons need to stop. There may be similarities between the two bands, but Justifide has developed a style of their own, apart from P.O.D's but it may seem to have some parallels. These boys have talent and work hard with their music, and they're "incapable of nailing down sounds" ? Not to say that P.O.D. doesn't but I know these guys have incredible testimonies, and that is definetely reflected in their music and presence.
