Dark Romantics, The

Another Song (EP)
These guys remind me of my return visits to the Mojave Desert – they’re comfortably familiar. Deep, swinging sultry singing (from the voice I trust – Eric Collins, who first impressed me with his impassioned delivery with his former band, Denison Marrs) and lilting blues tunes with simple beats and quirky synthesizers. Anyone not afraid enough to tip their hat to Elvis Costello or even a little wink to New Wave in the smartly "TDR Remix" of "So Confused" (which appears twice here). This is the type of band I’d expect to wear sunglasses indoors, and I’d still believe what they had to say. Another way of looking at this 5-song EP is this might be what it’d sound like if The White Stripes filled out their band with keys and bass. All attitude with muscle behind it. Gimme more of this.
