Brindley Brothers

Playing With The Light
Once again, I am caught off guard by not knowing what to expect from simply looking at a cd cover. You might think just straight up rock ‘n roll from the looks of these two guys. Upon closer inspection, the Brindley Brothers are a kind of laid back folk rock; the kind you might listen to driving on a summer day or walking your dog in the park. Sounds sunny and smiley, right? Fooled again. You wouldn’t catch that bright and shiny stuff from their lyrics either. With lines like “you know how it is to be sick and alone. slowly dying inside, so far from home,” and “it’s a slow burn, oh, the waiting’ll kill you,” those rain clouds that just formed over your head do a great job of keeping the sun out. But never you mind, the music sends everything for a loop with its paced but snappy rhythm and beautiful use of organ and steel guitar. The only thing that I can attribute the somber visage of this cd to is singer Lukes (or is it his brother Daniel? they all look the same to me) calm and almost depressed singing style. Besides still holding a grudge for fooling me, I can appreciate the Brindley Brothers style. It’s not usually my thing but you know what, I might just hop in my car and take these guys with me. the brindley brothers [bleep] rock! i've seen them live a couple of times...they're better live and their album doesn't do them justice

The Brindley Brothers are great artists and really cool people to hang out with.

A nod from a lord is a breakfast for a fool...
