My last day as an intern for HM Magazine has arrived and I'm just finishing up. It's been fun here, I've learned a lot. It's amazing how much work goes into making a magazine. I never even realized it. Tim and Doug were great people to work with and I'll never forget all the Pflues down in Pflugerville. It's been great, but now I must embark on my 14 hour journey home. I'm out.

Well, Doug knew he had it comin' to him. After dinner last night, Tim and I made a slight detour on our way home and bought some "supplies" at Walmart. Then we proceeded to "internize" Doug's office. Here's the result:

Not sure if you can see that psychedelic tape, so here's a close-up for ya:

That's right red and white streamers and balloons and Jesus tape(symbolizing the Nebraska Cornhuskers' close ties with God of course). Revenge is sweet.

Today was a full day of working on internet exclusives. Besides doing that tedious work, I edited the enewsletter to be sent out tomorrow probably and looked up some bands that have releases soon so we can consider them for the November/December issue. Sorry about not posting on Friday. We were without internet because of a storm that turned the electricity off twice. We finally got Cox Cable out here and they fixed it somehow. And now...it's storming again! Craziness!! On a happy note, Doug and Charlotta invited Tim and I over to their house for dinner tonight...yum!

I have to say I was a little worried that there wouldn't be a whole lot to do today since we're a little ahead of deadline schedule but it worked out okay. Kept eating away at the Internet Exclusives formatting and started in on the So and So Says formatting. Tim and I watched Doug for quite a while put ads into the layout, I listened to some indie CDs and kept working on the never-ending Mar/Apr bible study. Quite an uneventful day but it went really fast!

The week's almost over and deadline is now only 2 days away! Today I looked over all of Doug's proofs and edited stories on those pages. Worked some more on the bible study and Tim and I did inventory on the shirts. That took up most of the day so there's not to much to report. :)

Well, it's Tuesday. Nothing special about Tuesdays. At any rate, the magazine is coming together nicely. I guess everything is pretty much laid out except for the ads and the deadline for having those in isn't until tomorrow. Today was kind of a blur, but I do remember doing random odd things to help out Doug. We switched out his stereo with his wife's and Tim and I went to the bank to make a deposit and stopped off for a little Mc-ee-dee's on the way home. (Thanks Grandma!) I finished the email newsletter and that went out today. Other than that just random stuff. It's all coming together!

Monday, July 25, 2005
Well...the reason I didn't have time to write on Friday was that I left the office a little early to go spend the weekend in Waco with my friend. We had fun; went to a show, went to the Dr. Pepper museum and met a really cool homeless woman. But back to work. I overslept about 2 hours today. Yikes! I think I just forgot to set my alarm clock, but after I finally rolled into my office, we had a meeting to discuss what we had left to do before Friday's deadline. So I got to work on all that stuff. So far, I've worked on some trademark paperwork for the logo, scanned some album covers and found them on the internet (making three copies of each, color jpeg, color tiff, and grayscale tiff), gathered info for the masthead, posted some pictures online, went through and formatted some pictures from cornerstone to be used in the next issue, and labeled Doug's proofs for pages in the next issue. Now I'll be working on the mass email newsletter and I'll be done for the day!

...Sweet revenge.
