The end has come my friends...but not without a bang! Last night after dinner, Frances and I acted out our retribution for one too many instances of Lust Control sticker "evandalism" of our cars. If it were a Star Wars movie, it would've been called "The Interns Strike Back." We filled Doug's office with balloons, streamers, and "Jesus tape"...check out Frances diary for a picture of the carnage. We caught an afternoon showing of War of the Worlds as our celebratory movie. It was pretty dern good, I must say. Well...it's been real...it's been fun...and it HAS been real fun. Doug was as cool a person to work for as I could ever have wanted, and getting to know Frances was complete joy. They both have great hearts, a great sense of humor, and made every day full of laughter. I will never forget either of them. Well, I should probably cut this off, because the sap-o-meter is reading off the charts already I'd imagine, so I'll bid goodbye to ya, family, friends and HM readers! I thank God for this incredible opportunity, it's been nothing but a pure blast! Thanks again...may the Lord make his face shine upon you and give you peace!

So the issue is complete! It's a bittersweet feeling, knowing all the hard work is done and just waiting to hold the results of said work in your hands, but it's also the tell-tale sign that this internship, and one of the most incredible summers I've had in quite some time, is coming to a close. There were still things to be done for sure. Frances and I checked around label websites and such for release dates on upcoming albums, to help Doug get an idea of which bands to include in the next issue based on who's got new material coming out around the release time of the mag. Other than that, it was just clearing up odds and ends. Doug and his family had us over for an AMAZING dinner. Other than a few trips out to nice resaurants, I've certainly not eaten that well in my entire Austin stay. Thanks again Charlotta! Aftr dinner we watched some nice special features from the Anchorman and Dodgeball DVD's, and recieved tours of Kaela and Rachel's rooms...very cool!

I'm writing this on Saturday afternoon because we had a short strom towards the end of yesterday and ended up loosing our internet till today when Cox came and fixed it. Deadline will go into extra innings because of that, and also because we're waiting on some ads to come in still. I know it will all come together though. Friday was relaxed and fun. Did a lot of hanging out together and laughing in Doug's office. Frances and I filed some cd's for him in his uber-huge shelves packed with hundreds upon hundreds of cd's. It's not so fresh on my mind anymore now, but the laughter stood out as the theme of the day. Doug came into my office and "accidently" dropped a newsletter with the headline "How To Deal With Difficult People" which had been signed by everyone in the office but me, and there was no space with my initials. He said "Oh, sorry, you weren't supposed to see that!" LOL. I enjoy this place.

No Biscuit at the office today sadly enough, but Doug's fake dog poop made the puppy's absence easier to deal with. Worked some on writing up an online Bible study based on the July/August issue. Frances and I spent a good portion of the day watching Doug arrange the ads. While doing so, Doug threw on an Eminem track to hear me rap along. What can I say, I gots mad flow, G. Then we listened to some "Brother Russel"...it's this guy who prank-calls uber-conservative or charismatic Christian talk shows and pretends to be "Melba Jackson" or a number of other characters. We were dying. So you might want to sit down for this one, but I heard "So Yesterday" from Hilary Duff playing in Doug's office at one point today, soon followed by the sound of Usher's "Yeah" coming from Frances' office. Not to be left in their MTV fumes, I busted out a mix cd someone made me for Valentine's day a couple year's ago. I thought about Britney Spears' "Toxic" for a second, but then opted for everyone's fave: "Hey Ya" by Outkast. No worries though, the crapfest of music ended there and it was quality from then on out, although we may have moved the end of time up by at least a few days with that shameful display. I was headed to get my car inspected when Doug cranked up whatever old school metal cd he had on up several notches and then I proceeded to run into the living room of the office while putting on his flower shaped mini-guitar, jumping up with one foot on the couch and the other on the chair next to it and ripping off a SWEET fake solo. I almost didn't want to leave for fear of missing the the rest of that show. Doug said Frances was rather fightened to be left alone in the office with him in such a deranged state. So yeah...mentally unstable bosses make for fun working environments I've found. Deadline is tomorrow people!!! Crazy! I've been smoking a pack a day just to deal with the stress! (j/k) And do you even have to ask what's coming....didn't think so...

She said what I was supposed to think,
Thank God for freedom, thank God for liberation.
Now we are allowed to think, now we are allowed to feel...
Lust...without cute, boring love

But don't you ever just like me, long for purity?
And don't you ever get so sick of our territory?

What are you so scared of sister?
What made you so afraid to feel?
To choose this stone-cold liberation.
This one thing I hate most about me,
Is the one thing you want to make your trademark
To feel lust without cute, boring love.

But don't you ever just like me, long for purity?
And don't you ever get so sick of our territory?
And don't you ever feel like glass?
Fragile, hurting, letting it pass?
And don't you think it's time to trespass?

Return to Intern Diaries

Comments

I have been deemed the first member of the Tim Hallila fan club, and you have just encountered the official site.

Yep, this is it. Feel free to endulge yourself in the eventful summer diaries of the HM summer intern, Tim. =D

Looking forward to more posts...
oh, I'll be the second member of the THFC.

Tim!!! Thanks for meeting up with us at Amy's. It was definitely a good time! I'll be checking out your posts as often as I can ...so I look forward to lots of laughs! :) You rock! Oh, and btw, I was *quite* excited about the possible Bubble Gum Pop section ... I just might have to subscribe for that sweet action ... :)

tiiiim...look at you. all official and everything. i'm impressed.

dude, congrats! intern and all that, its so awesome. mom, dad and I were just checkin out the HM site and we saw you here. its so tight dude! anyways, i want to subscribe to this magazine sometime. rock on bro, later

LOL
that is hilarious! i love your "go office space on the thing!"
that is surely tempting...and we have those open fields right outside the office.
:?)

that's right, go spurs! I'm glad to hear that Austin is working for ya'.

This is fun...still might be favoring a xanga a bit more but this is different so I like very much!

Sorry to hear about Freckles. I had a cat that lived with me for 20 years. I got him when I was 9 and he died in my arms when I was 29.
As odd as it may sound, I think God cares. Besides the numerous Proverbs about a righteous man showing kindness to his beasts, the prophet Nathan told an interesting story to David when he busted him for his crimes (it was about a pet...).

Totally saw Mr. Rogers on T.V. yesterday afternoon! Sorry to hear about you're dog...I'm sure it's hard seeing as how she was apart of your life for so long! Alright, have a great rest of the week! - MB

Glad you got a good report at the doctor's office!

Tim~
I am really happy for you and this internship. You seem very happy and that makes me happy. Sounds like you are in a good fit and that is something awesome. Brightest Blessing to you and your internship. I am sooo proud of you! I hope to see you this Fall, it is sadly my final semester but I wish you continued success now and always!
Take Care and God Bless,
Carrie

You'll be missed Tim...and you are, for sure, the favorite intern. :)
