Random Cool Church Spotlight

If you ever go to Montana, please take a stop at SHEC in Missoula. SHEC South Hills Evangelical Church is one of the coolest churches that I’ve been to in 20+ years of ministry. My wife Esther and I had the pleasure of visiting SHEC last weekend – and we were absolutely “blown away” by the Lord’s work there!

Pastor John K. Erbele (32) took over the church from his dad (which had 40 people in it) – four years later they had 1500. This church rocks! When they moved into their where house, people were complaining about the kids skating on the lot – and wanted to call the cops…

Instead Pastor John and company took half the church’s space – and built the kids a “radical” skate park (one of the largest in the country) - complete with half-pipes, various ramps, and the coolest wooden bean-shaped bowl you’ve ever seen. They have over 900 registered youth attending!

The band Goofyfooted rocks the house – with alternative rock worship group every weekend. They are one talented group of guys and a gal (who sings like an angel).

Bikers for Christ have a new chapter at SHEC – which held its “1st Annual Bike Blessing” (inside the church) – and burn-outs were “smokin’’ amidst the church chairs…

SHEC is currently doing a study in the Book of Luke, which they themed “The Lukes of Hazard” complete w/ a General Lee go-cart (The Man from Galilee), which we also blasted around the church.

They also offer: a community gym, 24 hr. weight room, after school programs, drug and alcohol rehab classes, Holy Grounds coffee house that pumps out hundreds of mochas every weekend and more… plus 2 SHEC satellite churches in neighboring communities…

Missoula, Montana is blessed because SHEC is there meeting the needs of their community and offering hope in Jesus Christ. Go to: www.shec.net – to see it for yourself!
