Panic With A K Tour Review
MxPx, Relient K, House of Heroes, Rufio | Stubbs, Austin TX

Excitement was already in the air at Stubbs as UT football fans celebrated yet another victory. This excitement would only be encouraged by brilliant and energetic sets from pop-punk veterans, Relient K and MxPx.
Relient K came out with guitars blazing, amid girlish screams from the front rows. They worked through some new material, which included, “I So Hate Consequences” and “Which To Bury, Us Or The Hatchet.” As they were going into “Sadie Hawkins,” Matt Thiessen asked the crowd to “shed your coolness and clap along.” Relient K revisited their earlier material with “Softer To Me” and “When You're Around” from their debut album. They closed the night with the ballad, “Let It All Out.”
MxPx kicked off their set with “Responsibility” and galloped their way through “Heard That Sound,” “Well Adjusted” and “Cold Streets.” The lighters came out for “Wrecking Hotel Rooms,” but were soon gone for “I’m OK, You're OK,” when Mike Herrera got the crowd involved with the “ba-ba-ba’s.” Energy levels rose many times throughout the set, which were usually prompted by Mike giving the signal for the pit to start up. They ended with everyone singing their cover of The Proclaimers “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).” The fans were happy and pleaded with the band for one more song. MxPx was eager to accommodate and finished in nostalgic form with fan favorites, “Chick Magnet” and “Punk Rawk Show.” After all was said and done, fans left with new merch and satisfied smiles.
