Showbread News
Showbread has announced that their new album, The Fear Of God will be dropping on 8/11th. “It is the purest form of Raw Rock” Showbread guitarist Mike Jensen says of their new album The Fear Of God being released on 8/11th on Tooth And Nail Records.“It’s the best definition of Showbread”. Not being able to fit their style of high energy, danceable rock music conveniently into any genre, Showbread began describing themselves as “Raw Rock” early in their career. When the first dissonant chord of the opening track “I’m Lost” rings out, it’s easy to assume Jensen is telling the truth, this is pure Raw Rock. If Showbread had a “formula” The Fear Of God might be described as a return to it, but after years of genre bending rock and roll and outright refusal to adhere to any type of musical rule whatsoever, a Showbread formula is difficult to pin down. Reuniting for the third time with acclaimed producer Sylvia Massy Shivy (Prince, Tool, Johnny Cash) and engineer Rich Veltrop (Phantom Planet, Slayer), the creative energy on the record is at its best. With enough screaming punk rock energy to satisfy fans of Showbread’s earlier chaotically tinged music and enough addictive synthesizer laced rhythm and melody to reel in the casual listener, it just might be that all the Showbread components are working in perfect synergy. What an unusual and refreshing thing it is in the barren landscape of today’s rock music to hear something that gives off no aura of conformity. Josh Dies plainly states “Appealing to anything other than our vision has never been an issue for us as a band. This time more than ever, all our members are working in unison to make the best Showbread record ever.” The result? A blistering and visceral rock album. From the frenetically charged “Nothing Matters Anymore” to the album’s devastating title track, The Fear Of God is an energy and sound that only Showbread can convey. Raw Rock in its pure and only form, and sounding better than ever.

Lennertz and Wynn Slated to Score To Save A Life
New Song Pictures is proud to announce that Christopher Lennertz and Timothy Wynn have been slotted to compose the score for the upcoming feature film To Save A Life. Lennertz is an acclaimed composer, producer, conductor and arranger for film, television, video games and records. A graduate of USC’s Thornton School of Music, Lennertz has worked with some of the biggest names in music, film and digital media. At only 36 years old, Lennertz has scored over 31 feature films, 4 network television series and many of the world’s biggest interactive titles. He can boast the titles of Grammy Award, Emmy Award and Interactive Academy Award Winner for his past projects. Wynn, a native of Southern California, met Lennertz and film director Brian Baugh during their years at USC. Wynn’s credits include numerous films, television and documentaries. Since 2005, Wynn’s focus has been primarily on the scoring of video games, including Warhawk, The Simpson’s Game and The Punisher. “Tim and I have been friends with director Brian Baugh since our days at USC. We worked together even back then,” explains Lennertz. “Brian’s vision and style has always been fantastic and when we saw the film, we realized that he had made something truly special and that we wanted to join him on that journey. To be able to make a film that is as emotional and touching as this is while at the same time keeping it entertaining and appealing to a broad audience is a real achievement. We are so honored to lend our musical voice to the film.” Brian Baugh, the director of To Save A Life, continues, "From early on, I had hoped that Chris and Tim could do the score. They have always been wonderful collaborators, and have that intangible quality of being able to move an audience emotionally through music. It is a great comfort to be able to entrust the musical score to their immense talent and experience." To Save a Life is an indie film about the real life challenges of teens and their choices. The film stars Randy Wayne (The Dukes of Hazzard, Foreign Exchange, The Last Hurrah), Deja Kreutzberg (CSI Miami, Law and Order, Hope and Faith), and Kim Hidalgo (Ball Don’t Lie, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Scrubs). As the film has a strong teen focus, scoring To Save A Life will need to sound and feel different then many of the other projects that Lennertz and Wynn have crafted. “Many of the films that we work on have a strictly orchestral feel, while this film can really handle a wide variety of instrumentation, due to the character’s age and interests,” continues Lennertz. “It is also imperative not to overload the film with too much musical emotion. We want it to remain intimate and connected, so the audience really feels what the characters are going through. It will definitely make for an interesting and unique score.” To Save A Life was shot in Oceanside, California and is produced by New Song Pictures. Set for an early 2010 release, the film is currently securing distribution.

Former Member Of Three 6 Mafia Release Album
Mr. Del, former member of the multi-platinum, hardcore rap group Three 6 Mafia, will release his third solo album, THRILLA, on 6/30th. The highly anticipated project will be the first release through Holy South's new major distribution partnership with Universal Music Christian Group. The Memphis-based rapper is widely recognized as an innovator in the genre, both as an artist and a producer. Mr. Del's first solo effort, 2005's The Future (EMI Gospel), debuted at #15 on Billboard's Gospel Chart. In 2007, he followed it up with the equally successful Hope Dealer (Holy South), which featured a collaboration with jazz master Kirk Whalum. In addition to his solo work, Mr. Del put together 2008's Gumbo Red, an extraordinary collaboration with Canton Jones, Lisa McClendon and newcomer Ramona Jones. He has also worked with multi-platinum artist Salt of Salt-n-Pepa and Dove Award-winning Christian pop group Out of Eden. THRILLA is Mr. Del's most musically diverse project to date. The project includes a collaboration with rap mate Mali Music on the reggae-infused “Spread the Gospel,” as well as the high energy “Rock it Out,” which features performances by IroCc and Canton Jones. “THRILLA shows more of a deeper, transparent side of me,” says Mr. Del. THRILLA, which is an acronym for THE REAL ANOINTING, allows the listener to submerge into the heart of an artist who has overcome weakness and insurmountable obstacles, and is now refined and stronger through Christ. “Life motivates and inspires me to write,” says Mr. Del. “My lyrics aren't just for entertaining, but for piercing the heart of the listener and igniting life-changing actions.” Mr. Del opens his personal journals on songs like “Don't Do It” and “My Life Rated ‘R' (Real),” using his lyrics to tell of life growing up with an abusive stepfather, life in the streets and living with a wounded soul. “Beyond the beats and lyrics, God's grace is sufficient enough for your weakness,” reminds Mr. Del. “And through your weakness and pressing, out of that comes an anointing.” With THRILLA, Mr. Del hopes to cross borders and break down barriers that still exist within the Christian community. “I want this industry to not be so segregated,” he stresses. “What we see is that Christian represents Caucasian, and Gospel represents African-American. This isn't a true representation of the Kingdom.” The Christian Hip Hop genre is still viewed with skepticism by many in the church, which can affect the promotion and visibility of the genre. “The biggest misconception is that what we do is not of God,” states Mr. Del. “But I don't let those small hurdles limit my ministry and mission. I am not bound to the Christian and Gospel box. My orders are from God himself. With Him there is no limit. I didn't come here to lose.” It's with that same tenacity and determination that Mr. Del has reached into his local community with a powerful ministry that far exceeds the confines of the “Christian rapper” title. He is known throughout the Memphis area as a powerful minister, serving as the pastor of the church he founded, City of Refuge. City of Refuge started as a Bible study on the campus of the University of Memphis and truly meets a generation where they are as a non-traditional, non-religious radical youth movement that empowers, uplifts and edifies the body. When not tending to his pastoral duties at City of Refuge, Mr. Del will spend much of 2009 on the road promoting THRILLA. An aggressive touring schedule is in the works, as is a July/August media tour.

Casanets Announce Release Of New Album
Castanets' contribution to the American music canon has always been a strange, experimental, defiant one. Beer-soaked country rock gone contrarian noise. Corpse-y folk and desert blues. Live shows and past records brought free-jazz and Nashville together or went dub like it was casual. But no matter how out there it's gone, Castanets' music has always had this sly, wizened eye for catchiness and a quiet, laidback flirtation with beats. In the five years since Castanets main-man Raymond Raposa dropped his Asthmatic Kitty debut, Cathedral, it has always seemed like Raposa was just one step away from writing a whopper of a totally accessible pop record. And here it is, Texas Rose, The Thaw, and The Beasts. Only it's not. By some dark alchemy, Castanets has managed to craft an album that is as catchy and well-defined as it is full of experimentation. And more so. More so on the catchy. More so on the song-craft. More so on the clean, majestic classy production (courtesy of Asthmatic Kitty's artist Rafter Roberts.) But also more so on the noise, the haunted electronics, and the all-out remodeling of American song forms. Here Raposa plays big boss to a cast of battle-ready heads including Rocket from the Crypt horn player Jason Crane, Bauhaus' David J, Black Heart Procession singer Pall Jenkins, Gogogo Airheart drummer Andy Robillard, Asthmatic Kitty newbie DM Stith, Gabriel Sundy, Chris Cory, and regular Castanets contributors Henry Nagle and Suzanna Waiche. And what they walked away with is a 38-plus-minute dream-quest across a dissolving terrain of dark country music, electronic pop, and folk landmarked by soothing blossoms of noise, big beats, and tenuous sighs of pedal steel. It's something new and it's something epic—and it satisfies. There are many things we can ask for from our music but to be satisfied is paramount. And now we present, Texas Rose, The Thaw, and The Beasts, the brand-new record from Castanets, out September 22nd on Asthmatic Kitty.
