August Burns Red Releases New Album In July
AUGUST BURNS RED, the Lancaster, PA-based metal quintet who scratched and clawed their way to the top of the heap in 2008, are preparing to drop the much-anticipated third full-length, Constellations, via Solid State Records on July 14, 2009. After a month in the studio with lauded producer Jason Suecof (SEVENDUST, ALL THAT REMAINS, GOD FORBID, TRIVIUM), ABR emerged in late March with a blistering album that will make good on the promise of 2007's Messengers – an album that, devoid of hype, without any smoke and mirrors, ever-so-quietly sold more than 80,000 copies, as much or more than most of the band's much-hyped contemporaries. AUGUST BURNS RED spent the subsequent year conquering fans at Warped Tour, on the Take Action tour and at destinations from Dubai to Dallas, and increased their profile through placement on the movie trailer for "The Spirit." Meanwhile, fans drove AUGUST BURNS RED's MySpace plays well past the 17 million mark, packed the band's fall 2008 headlining tour – which included sold-out venues across the country – and flocked to the band's in-studio Stickam site by the tens of thousands to observe the band recording the eagerly awaited new album. Fans' demand for new material also drove the release of a B-sides EP, Lost Messengers: The Outtakes, this past February. These reverberations from Messengers' massive grassroots success have set the table for what – if the fans have anything to say about it – is primed to be one of the year's most anticipated metal albums. "We've been paying more attention to the dynamics of the songs," says guitarist and principle songwriter JB Brubaker of the new album. "We wanted the songs to breathe in certain places and explode in others." For anyone afraid that might mean ABR is mellowing out, Brubaker is quick to assuage fears: "I can say for sure that this record will definitely be as unrelenting as our previous ones, but at the same time it will also be more dynamically diverse." That diversity can only help to expand the band's ever-growing fan base. With Messengers, AUGUST BURNS RED became a sleeper hit. With Constellations, the band plans to turn that rumbling fault line into the spouting volcanic eruption fans have been predicting.

Underoath Posts New Video
Just finishing their fourth international tour since last fall, UNDEROATH have announced the MySpace global premiere of the video for "Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear," the compelling new single off their acclaimed fourth studio album LOST IN THE SOUND OF SEPARATION (Tooth & Nail/Solid State). The group's most accessible single to date, "Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear" will hit Alternative and Rock radio in early June. For the striking clip, UNDEROATH re-teamed with the Swedish production team Popcore Films--with whom the band received a Grammy nomination for "Best Short Form Video" for the song "Writing on the Walls." The clip, which has logged over 100,000 views in the first 24 hours; is receiving major MySpace placement across the globe including Sweden, Brazil, Russia, India, Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. "We knew we wanted to do something unique because we've never had a song like this before," explains MCTAGUE of the muted track with electronic touches. "We talked to our good friends from Sweden and decided to try something new. This is our fifth video with Popcore, so we felt confident in our communication and direction; they couldn't have done a better job in our opinion."
After a fall U.S. headlining tour last fall which averaged an over 90% sell-out rate, UNDEROATH have wrapped hugely successful sold-out shows in over ten countries around the globe--U.S., U.K., Mexico, Canada, Italy, Germany, South Africa, France, Belgium, and Sweden--and performed their first-ever tours of South and Central America; they also had headlining spots on the Soundwave (Australia) and Give It A Name (Europe) festivals this spring. In June, UNDEROATH will perform all summer long on the main stage of the Vans Warped Tour. The trek marks the group's sixth outing on the annual punk rock extravaganza and their fourth run as a headlining act on the tour which celebrates its 15th anniversary this summer. Crooked X News
The young Coweta, Oklahoma quartet known as Crooked X is on hyper-speed, musically and career-wise. Even before scoring their 2008 deal with EMI, the intense but melodic hard rockers were opening for KISS in Europe, touring with Ted Nugent and chronicling their lives on the MTV special "Rock N Roll Dream". Crooked X's self-titled debut for MPM/EMI/Capitol sees its widespread Canadian release today. The album encapsulates the bands' youthful aggro-energy, hopes, and hormones (the members are, after all, just 15 years old) into 10 tracks rife with searing guitars, passionate vocals and intense, radio-ready heavy rock. Featuring such gems as the dark, riff-tastic 'Nightmare' (featured in Rock Band™ ), the edgy and classic heavy modern rock tunes 'Time Is Now', 'Gone', and 'Adrenaline', and the instantly memorable first single 'Rock N Roll Dream', Crooked X's debut effort combines an organic, '70s-inspired influence with the band's new millennium sound. Members Forrest French (vocals, guitar), Jesse Cooper (lead guitar, vocals), Josh McDowell (bass) and Boomer Simpson (drums) also share songwriting and lyrical duties for a true full-band collaboration. Crooked X is managed by music and media producer/strategist Spencer Proffer and esteemed music manager Doc McGhee. Notes Spencer Proffer (Quiet Riot, Tina Turner, WASP), who oversaw the album on all facets and produced Crooked X along with Michael Wagener (Ozzy, Skid Row, Poison): "They're pure to rock & roll, a magnet back into classic rock that's direly missing these days. They write melodic, timeless, powerful rock with elements of Zeppelin, Metallica and AC/DC. But it's fresh and from their perspective; for today's generation. That rang my bell loudly, being a fan who is steeped in rock & roll and has made my life's work in it. I knew I had to get involved." Crooked X is also slated for a walk-on appearance on MuchMusic's MuchOnDemand program on Friday May 1. The band will present their brand new video "Gone" for its exclusive Canadian premiere on MOD (airs 5pm EST; check local listings for more info). Crooked X's goal is simply to rock like heroes Shinedown, Black Label Society and Pantera, explaining: "We want people to hear our music, decide what they think, and THEN find out, 'wow, they're 15.' Instead of , 'they're 15, wow, they're good for their age.' We're not a gimmick, we're a band." As for where they see themselves in five years-besides being 20 years old!-they conclude, "as long as we're jamming, having fun and together, we don't care."

Anberlin Scores # 1 Hit On Radio
Industry-watchers citing Universal Republic rockers Anberlin as alternative rock's development story of the year are armed with even more evidence this week as the Florida fivesome broke an alternative radio record in its 29 week climb to the #1 spot in both the Mediabase and BDS format. The previous record was also set by a Universal Republic band, the group 10 Years with "Wasteland." Anberlin's feat is even more notable, as they leaped over the group Rolling Stone magazine recently called the 'hottest band in America' - the Kings Of Leon - to lock down the #1 position all for themselves. "We congratulate Anberlin on their achievement topping the alternative radio chart," stated Joel Klaiman, Executive Vice President of Promotion and Artist Development of Universal Republic. "Such success and unwavering commitment spearheaded at the format by Dennis Blair (VP Alternative promotion) is also indicative of the Universal Republic promotion staff's tenacity and dedication to artist development in every facet of our game plan." Anberlin's incredible six month climb on the coveted hitlist is a testament to the band's gritty staying power, propelled by a hearty U.S. fan base that has helped them become one of music's most dynamic and edgy rock forces. The group matches their growing radio popularity with their acclaimed live firepower, and will be hitting the road this spring with Long Island, NY rockers Taking Back Sunday on a 30-plus city tour throughout North America, kicking off on May 14th in Cincinnati, OH. Anberlin's recent South by Southwest performances showcased 'Feel Good Drag' and other songs from their Universal Republic debut album New Surrender, which debuted on Billboard’s Top Albums chart in late 2008 at #13 and continues to reign as one of the more formidable alternative offerings of 2008-2009.
