Demon Hunter News
Demon Hunter will perform a SPECIAL ACOUSTIC SET on March 14 in Quakertown, PA at Benner Hall. This will be a FULL set! They have only done two acoustic performances prior to this one and this will be much longer. It will be a full show complete with local opening acts. As of right now this is the ONLY show that they have booked in all of 2009. There is no plans for a US tour this year although there may be some other appearances including their first international shows. But as of right now this is IT!

Jars Of Clay Set To Release New Album
Acclaimed rock band Jars of Clay, known for its ground-breaking, intelligent music and humanitarian work worldwide, artfully explores matters of relationship and community through the songs on its tenth studio album The Long Fall Back To Earth. The highly anticipated 14-track project releases April 21 on Gray Matters/Essential Records. From the band’s earliest days to the present, innovation has marked each step of Jars of Clay’s musical journey with The Long Fall Back To Earth serving as no exception. It’s a big, lush, confident, gutsy sound that dominates the new tracks, leaving the listener with a different thought for each new story told, each new emotion conveyed. As with all previous Jars of Clay projects, it’s the lyrical content that draws listeners into a fuller appreciation of the songs. Lead vocalist/lyricist Dan Haseltine delves into the bare bones reality of the beauty and tension of relationships, and what makes them worth fighting for, a common thread that has tied everyone exposed to Jars of Clay’s music together for more than a decade. The project’s debut single, “Two Hands,” released to radio January 30, is receiving praise from programmers everywhere and is quickly shooting up the AC/CHR charts. One of the songs the band considers a cornerstone for the project as a whole, “Two Hands” deals with our inborn, yet often unspoken desire to just do more for our world, while struggling to keep our innate selfishness in check. “That song touches a very simple longing in our hearts for unity under one roof, so to speak,” Dan Haseltine says. “One side of us wants to serve Christ and love others, while the other side is concerned only with looking out for ourselves. By reconciling the sides of our heart -- both good and bad -- to bring the full weight of who we are in Christ, we can use our hands to serve and love others well in a way that honors Him.” Jars of Clay, handling production duties alongside veteran producer Ron Aniello (Guster, Lifehouse, Leigh Nash), expand on the musical palette developed for its last project, Good Monsters: driving songs with more synth, beats and loops, but keeping its hard-won appreciation for rock guitars intact. The effect is a sweeping musical landscape full of detail, contrast and richness. A consistent draw on the road, Jars of Clay is already mapping tour dates in support of the album through 2009. Family Force 5 Gets Set For AP Tour
Family Force 5 is fast becoming one of the great stories of artist development on the scene today. The band’s sophomore release Dance Or Die has already sold over 50k units to date, proving to be unstoppable the band gears up to hit the road on the AP Tour 09 presented by Rockstar Energy Drink but just before they will hit the studio to record brand new tracks to be included on the Dance or Die Remix CD due out May 19. Thresher Brings The Thrash Back
In the mid to late 80’s the thrash scene was thriving in both the secular market and in the Christian market. Bands like Vengeance Rising, Deliverance, Sacrament and Believer we’re leading the pack in the Christian thrash circuit. In 1989 somewhere in Pennsylvania a demo tape would emerge that would make a long lasting impression on the Christian Thrash scene. That demo was called… ‘Totally Possessed’ The band… THRESHER! The band would release and distribute only 500 copies of that first demo tape, selling it at their shows and through print magazines like Heaven’s Metal. That demo would catch the eye of many people in the scene and in the industry. This tape, if you can find one today, goes for quite a few bucks on sites like eBay! After the success of the demo the band would next record a couple of tracks that would be included on two much sought after compilations for REX Records. This would garner even more attention on this young and thriving band. Next, with label interest in both the Christian and Secular markets, they would go in and record what would be their next and ultimately their final, full length release entitled ‘Here I Am’. ‘Here I Am’ was to be their break through album, and was recorded live in the studio with very few overdubs at Lifeline Studios in Pennsylvania. But ultimately the band would begin to deteriorate as they battled to try and balance both music and their personal lives. The album would ultimately never be released and has been locked away for close to 20 years, until now! After all these years, Roxx Records, in conjunction with Thresher, is set to release this long lost treasure upon the world in a Limited Edition CD format. Eight never before released tracks, these tracks, while locked away for years, have stood the test of time and are still relevant and stand up with the best of them in today’s Thrash scene. Abandon To Release Debut Album April 21st
New Forefront Records signing, Texas rock outfit Abandon will release its debut project, Abandon, April 21, 2009. The disc will include songs from the band’s breakthrough summer EP in addition to current CHR/Rock radio single, “Hold On.” Produced by Chris Stevens (Sanctus Real, Shawn McDonald, Delirious), Abandon conveys classic Bible truths in a fresh voice (Peter’s denial in “Providence”), fashions vulnerable prayers into memorable, soaring alternative pop songs (“Be Alive in Me”), and praises God while wearing the creative influences of The Beatles, Coldplay, and Delirious? (“All Because of You”). Having recently wrapped several dates with Fireflight, Abandon plans to showcase its music for radio stations nationwide beginning Feb. 16, 2009 as part of Forefront’s New Artist Tour, additionally featuring Philmont and This Beautiful Republic. The band’s current single “Hold On” is vying for ads at both the CHR and Rock radio formats. With a sound that has been likened to popular bands U2 and The Killers, Abandon comprises brothers Josh Engler (vocals) and Justin Engler (rhythm guitars), cousins Dave Vela (drums) and Stevan Vela (lead guitar) as well as Bryan Fowler (bass). They formed as part of their church’s worship band, eventually moving on to play local shows. The group came into relationship with Forefront Records after Director of A&R Chris York heard them perform at a Nashville club.

Sounds Familyre is incredibly honored to introduce you to Dan Zimmerman and announce the release of his new album, Cosmic Patriot. Upon hearing Dan Zimmerman's music, his voice will be your first impression. A rich, distinctive, roasted baritone somewhere in between Lee Hazelwood and Tom Waits, his voice is all character, with nothing pretended or imposed. Dan’s been singing since he picked up the guitar in 1957, and his resonance is pure experience. A Methodist preacher’s kid turned ‘60s art-school van-gypsy, married by a swami, turned Northwestern mountain-man singing at lunch-hour for fellow workers at a tree-packing plant…what an arc! And that’s just the groundwork. Six years in the making, Cosmic Patriot is a timeless pop balancing act between a stormy middle-earth apocalypse and something effortless, intimate, and unhurried. The writing, the band, the recording – there’s complexity, darkness, and intensity, yet it’s all so snug and woven and of-a-piece. It’s amazing how disarming a song that starts off with the battle cry, “Prepare for war, total war…” ends up being. Just as the listener finishes taking in the meaning of that chilling lyric, the song glides into a rousing homefires singalong. Therein is the push-me-pull-me quality that exists throughout. Songs like “Secret Name,” “Steady Plodder,” and “Trailing Clouds Of Glory” are spirituals. “The Thing Itself” is a beautifully slow, existential tweed-amp explosion, pulling good and hard on the band’s hidden Philly/South Jersey psych roots. Then, right at the core of the record is “Silence Is A Golden Mountain,” clattering and glissing into wood glue. Zimmerman has moved through life with a deeply purposeful wanderlust which permeates every note of his music. There’s a spirit to it, a soul to it, a body to it; there’s always something steadily in motion and growing in this picture. Cosmic Patriot captures the band and the man perfectly—everything fits. The boots are well-worn and comfortable; the tremolo pulses right when you need it, and the string section rises to answer its own questions. This could have been a classic Leonard Cohen session. Think about when you first found all those Scott Walker records, all those R. Stevie Moore tapes. There’s a personality completely preserved in its own space, an old friend you knew nothing about.

Raging Storms Records Signs Rodent Emporium
Independent label Raging Storm Records welcomes Rodent Emporium to its family of artists. Originally formed in Scotland in 2005, Rodent Emporium made their first tour to the US in 2008. Among their many tour stops included the Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, Illinois where thousands of new fans were exposed to their brand of music which combines old school punk rock, catchy sing-along choruses, and a good dose of comedy. Lead vocalist Stuart Gilmour says of his experience in the band, "What a blessing it is to go into the darkness of underground punk scenes, vibrant night life and entertainment and to meet with people normally completely opposed to all things Christian, and to be able to make them laugh, and hopefully think about the big questions through our respect for them and unconditional acceptance." Rodent Emporium will be touring the US this summer in support of a new full length album due out on Raging Storm Records in June. The band's debut release "Music Without Fear of Reprimand" is currently available in the UK at voidavoidance.com and in the US at ragingstormrecords.com.
