Kensrue & Foreman Play For Invisible Children
On December 19th, it's not about the music. Dustin Kensrue from THRICE, Jon Foreman (SWITCHFOOT), Chris Conley (SAVES THE DAY) and Jim Ward (SLEEPERCAR, SPARTA, AT THE DRIVE IN) will perform a special acoustic concert to help raise awareness and support for a great cause. Invisible Children, a non-profit organization that provides education and economic relief to war-torn northern Uganda, has enlisted some of their biggest supporters to come out to West Hollywood's legendary Troubadour club. Sponsored by MySpace, Jedidiah Clothing and SocialVibe, the event will also jump-start multiple auctions for limited-edition and one-of-a-kind band paraphernalia including a Thrice backdrop from previous tours, Riley Breckenridge’s drumset, hand painted guitars from Circa Survive, miscellaneous equipment used by Fall Out Boy, and more to come. "In auctioning this kit, I hope we can not only raise awareness and get more people involved in Invisible Children, but raise a decent amount of money for a cause, an organization, and people that I believe in," says Riley Breckenridge from Thrice. Invisible Children started in 2005 with a documentary film about children being abducted and forced to fight as soldiers for a rebel army in northern Uganda. The film, now seen by over 3 million people worldwide, has inspired a global movement of artists, musicians, and activists committed to using their time, talent and money to help end the 22-year war. Throughout the year, Invisible Children tours with bands like Thrice and Fall Out Boy to continue spreading the word and getting people involved. Dustin Kensrue will be performing songs from his brand new holiday album, This Good Night Is Still Everywhere (released digitally 11/18 on Vagrant) and his debut solo release, Please Come Home, which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart. "Musicians have so much potential to inspire their audience and include them on issues happening around the world,” says Kenny Laubbacher from Invisible Children, “it’s amazing to see this group of individuals embrace that power and act on it for a positive influence.”

Red Makes History With # 1 Single
GRAMMY-nominated modern rock band RED made R&R history this week as its first radio single “Fight Inside” from its sophomore album, Innocence & Instinct debuted at No. 1 on the R&R Christian Rock chart. Never, in the history of the magazine and the chart, has anyone accomplished this incredible feat. “Christian Radio has been such a backbone for our band,” comments Jasen Rauch, Red’s guitarist and primary songwriter. “We are so overwhelmed by the support they continue to give us, we are so humbled to even have a No. 1 never dreaming we would make history by debuting there. Thank you for your never ending support. We are truly blessed.” Radio stations across the country were ready to add the single as soon as it hit their desks and can’t say enough about the song. “There hasn’t been this much anticipation for a new single from an artist in years,” said Joey Belville, KLYT/Albuquerque. “The new Red album is going to rule, and even though nobody’s heard it….everybody knows it." Chris Goodwin, Program Director for KVRK/Dallas-Fort Worth said, “Fight inside is the highest tested song we’ve had since we debuted our Music Poll page on our website this year. 92% of the hundreds of listeners that voted chose the “like it” option.” The GRAMMY-nominated modern rock band RED will continue to tour the U.S. with Puddle of Mudd through November, after which it will perform radio shows through the end of the year. Its upcoming sophomore release, INNOCENCE & INSTINCT, drops on February 10, 2009, via Essential Records. The disc features 10 songs, including its first single “Fight Inside.” Simultaneously, Red will release a Deluxe Edition of INNOCENCE & INSTINCT loaded with extra content including four bonus tracks, the “Death of Me” music video, a “making of” documentary and more. The Nashville-based group, made up of JASEN RAUCH (guitars), MICHAEL BARNES (vocals), ANTHONY ARMSTRONG (guitar) and RANDY ARMSTRONG (bass), has logged an impressive 500+ live shows since releasing its End Of Silence debut album in 2006 and are giving fans a taste of its new music while on the road in late 2008. RED made an immediate impact with its 2006 debut, End of Silence, which sold more than a quarter-million copies and earned several awards and nominations. The GRAMMY-nominated disc--featuring the radio hits “Breathe Into Me” (No. 1 , Christian Rock & Top 10, Active Rock), “Break Me Down” (No.1, Christian Rock), “Already Over” (No. 1, Christian Rock & Top 15, Active Rock), “Let Go” (No. 1, Christian Rock & Top 15, Active Rock) and “Lost” (No.1, Christian Rock) -- introduced the sonic layering, rich orchestration and visceral dynamics that became RED’s signature sound. The album steadily built momentum, cracking the Billboard Top 200 a year after its release. Not surprisingly, the album became a hit with other bands as well, leading to tours and shows with Papa Roach, Sevendust, Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, Buckcherry, Puddle Of Mudd, Staind, Seether, Kutless, Disciple, Third Day and Switchfoot, among others.

Tooth & Nail Records Fulfills Wish For Aspiring Musician
Jonathan Stewart, an aspiring musician, was granted a wish of a lifetime on Monday, November 10 with the cooperation of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and Tooth & Nail Records. Stewart's wish included spending time with the rock niche label Tooth & Nail Records and attending UNDERØATH's sold-out concert at Seattle's Showbox as a VIP guest. Stewart was referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® for a wish as he dealt with osteosarcoma, a malignant form of bone cancer. He finally was able to travel to Seattle for his long-awaited wish. Requesting to have Tooth & Nail Records as part of his wish was easy for Stewart. "I chose Tooth & Nail because they fit my style of music and beliefs, and they produce some of my favorite bands," he said. "Ultimately, I would like to be signed by them or a company like them." His Make-A-Wish day included visiting the label office, touring Compound Studios with producer Aaron Sprinkle (Copeland, MxPx, Hawk Nelson), members of UNDERØATH and Randy Torres of Project 86 as well as hanging with the members of Demon Hunter. As another fun-filled surprise, Stewart was presented custom UNDERØATH soda bottles from Jason Hockney of Jones Soda. Stewart also enjoyed dinner with UNDERØATH and the label. "We are honored that John would choose Tooth & Nail and UNDERØATH for his wish," shares label president Brandon Ebel. "It was a very special day for our staff and the band. John and his family are very humble, down to earth people. He listened to brand new mixes from MxPx, played the video game Rock Band with UNDERØATH, recorded a podcast with myself and The Almost, and was there when UNDERØATH was presented their new box sets. John and his family will be in our prayers." Expounding on being a part of Stewart's wish, Chris Dudley (keyboards/samples) of UNDERØATH stated, "Hanging out with John was awesome. We took him on a tour of our record label, then we went to a recording studio and we actually recorded a song with him. He played guitar, his brother played drums, I sang, Spencer played guitar. It was one of our favorite days on tour, just because it's crazy for us to think that someone who is hooked up with Make-A-Wish would have their wish to be able to hang out with us for the day." Executives from Cold Stone Creamery, one of the Make-A-Wish Foundation's sponsors, also took part in the wish as part of their 16-city tour visiting various franchises and supporting the foundation's wish-granting efforts. Stewart and the members of UNDERØATH sampled ice cream on Cold Stone's tour bus after dinner.
