Becoming The Archetype Releases New Album
Becoming The Archetype will release their new album Dichotomy through Solid State Records on November 25th. This is the band’s third album and proclaimed as their most ambitious. The album features one of the most defining figures of technical metal, Devin Townsend (Lamb Of God, Bleeding Through) in the Producers chair as well as making a guest appearance. Also guesting is Ryan Clark, vocalist of label-mates Demon Hunter. Marrying the southern groove of swamp metal, keyboard flourishes from European metal, elements of Swedish death metal and progressive music, the band put their own stamp on the American metal scene. As far reaching as their sound is the concept of the album which draws a great deal of inspiration from writer C.S. Lewis’s works including “The Hideous Strength,” “The Great Divorce” and “The Chronicles Of Narnia.” Jason Wisdom (lead vocals / bass) comments that “Lewis was a Christian writer who earned the respect of every reader and that’s what I wanted to do, to make a record that isn’t just the alternative to some secular metal band for Christians. We want to be the best metal band that’s out there, period.” Becoming The Archetype is Wisdom, Jon Star (guitar), Seth Hecox (guitar / keyboards) and Brandon Lopez (drums).

Truby Releases Third Instrumental Album
Finding The Quiet, Jason Truby's third solo instrumental album since stepping away as guitarist and songwriter for the multi-platinum band P.O.D., is due out Nov. 25th. This will be an exclusive online release available only at iTunes and JasonTruby.com. "Finding The Quiet is a collection of tunes I'd written over the past couple years for acoustic guitar that evolved through a personal process of decompression, a type of aid, as we attempt to turn off the volume of the world," Truby explains. "The acoustic guitar has warm timber and can sooth the mind and soul without a word being spoken." "I enjoyed the simplicity of one guitar, one mic, and myself. The atmosphere really shines through when the music resonates as it was designed to do, without interference from over-production," he shares. "Many of these tunes were written to calm moments that are beyond control or to recall moments that bring joy. I hope this album helps listeners achieve both as we all continue finding the quiet." His first two solo instrumental projects, String Theory and Waiting on the Wind, used multiple instruments, but with the peaceful Finding The Quiet, Truby used just one guitar. In addition to his many accolades as a guitarist and songwriter, Truby continues to remain innovative by pushing the guitar into new areas of expression. He is continuing to work on his much-anticipated vocal album, slated to release early next year.

Red's New Album Out On Feb 10th
GRAMMY-nominated modern rock band RED is preparing to release its second CD, INNOCENCE & INSTINCT, on February 10, 2009, via Essential Records. The disc features 10 songs, including its first single “Fight Inside.” The band will simultaneously release a Deluxe Edition of INNOCENCE & INSTINCT featuring four bonus tracks, the “Death of Me” music video, a “making of” documentary and more. The Nashville-based group is currently touring the U.S. with Puddle Of Mudd--with a November 16 show at Highline Ballroom in New York City--through November 29, and will perform at select radio shows in December. Known for relentless touring and riveting live shows, RED--JASEN RAUCH (guitars), MICHAEL BARNES (vocals), ANTHONY ARMSTRONG (guitar) and RANDY ARMSTRONG (bass)--has logged an impressive 500+ live shows since releasing its End Of Silence debut album in 2006 and are giving fans a taste of its new music while on the road in late 2008. INNOCENCE & INSTINCT offers a primal and provocative look into the dark and sometimes seemingly hopeless “fight inside” each one of us, told through the powerful sphere of the band’s hard-hitting music. Produced by award-winning Rob Graves and mixed by Ben Grosse (Disturbed, Depeche Mode, Sevendust), the provocative INNOCENCE & INSTINCT was forged in a perfect storm of inspiration and catastrophe. From the literary spark of Dante’s Inferno to the bloody aftermath of a 75mph highway crash, RED absorbed a flood of ideas and emotions that empowered the band to create powerful and thought-provoking rock songs. Finding the sonic sweet spot where epic and primal converge, Innocence & Instinct features dynamics that super-charge its innocence vs. instinct theme. “Innocence & Instinct is about the duality of man,” explains guitarist/songwriter Rauch. “The album examines the fight between our childlike innocence and the instinctive side that makes us do things we shouldn’t. A lifetime is spent on this internal tug of war between who we really are and who we hope to be.” A highway crash in late 2007 accelerated the band’s emotional core. As the tour van smashed into a guardrail and violently slid sideways across the highway, the band experienced new heights of horror that they channeled into Innocence & Instinct. “It brought an intensity and depth that we couldn’t reach without going through this experience,” Rauch reflects. “In the months after the accident, it felt like everything was in overdrive.” “In a split second, it changed our lives,” adds six-stringer Anthony Armstrong. The disc is highlighted by its first Rock radio single, “Fight Inside.” “The song is an anthem for what the entire album is about. On our first release, End of Silence, we addressed issues we struggled with, but this time it’s about the struggle itself,” says guitarist-songwriter Jasen Rauch. “It encapsulates the struggle between ‘innocence’ and ‘instinct’ that resonates through all the songs on this record. The music captures the internal tug-of-war inside all of us; between good and evil, light and darkness, spirit and flesh, exploring that fragile barrier between overcoming and being overcome.” RED made an immediate impact with its 2006 debut, End of Silence, which sold more than a quarter-million copies and earned several awards and nominations. The GRAMMY-nominated disc--featuring the radio hits “Breathe Into Me” (No. 1 , Christian Rock & Top 10, Active Rock), “Break Me Down” (No.1, Christian Rock), “Already Over” (No. 1, Christian Rock & Top 15, Active Rock), “Let Go” (No. 1, Christian Rock & Top 15, Active Rock) and “Lost” (No.1, Christian Rock) -- introduced the sonic layering, rich orchestration and visceral dynamics that became RED’s signature sound. The album steadily built momentum, cracking the Billboard Top 200 a year after its release. Not surprisingly, the album became a hit with other bands as well, leading to tours and shows with Papa Roach, Sevendust, Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, Buckcherry, Puddle Of Mudd, Staind, Seether, Kutless, Disciple, Third Day and Switchfoot, among others.

Men As Trees Walking Set To Record
Men As Trees Walking announced recording started on November 5th: This evening we begin the process of loading in drum and percussion equipment, setting them up, setting up all the microphones and getting tones and signal to tape. This can be a very time consuming, frustrating and anxious part of the process so we’re praying for peace and that everything; all the cables, microphones, recording equipment, etc., works as it should. We still are in need of the funds for one piece of drumming equipment, one piece of guitar equipment and the funds to repair one piece of studio equipment so if you would, keep that in mind while praying. I want to thank the head of our churches audio department for the loan of the additional microphones (you can never have too many mics!) and the additional outboard gear (you can also never have too many outboard effects processors!). Thank you, again, for praying and interceding on our behalf personally and creatively. We really appreciate it!

Retroactive Records Sign Boarders
Retroactive Records is proud to announce the signing of the Italy-based thrash/power metal band, BOARDERS for the release of their critically acclaimed album "THE WORLD HATES ME," scheduled for a January 2009 release date. A band that can trace its history back to the late eighties, Boarders presents a unique melding of the aggressive and melodic that draws extensively from the musical trends of the decade in question. And nowhere is that more evident than in the groups thrash heavy material in that "Schmertzgarten", "Deliver You Back To Hell", "For What It's Worth" and "W.P.D." all deliver a sound certain to garner the interest of those into Megadeth, Metallica, Tourniquet and old school Deliverance. As a matter of fact, Boarders once gained renown in Italy – back in their pre-Christian days – as a Megadeth cover band; hence, the inclusion of the old Megadeth song "In My Darkest Hour" (off So Far, So Good, So What) makes perfect sense. A more melodic aspect to the bands songwriting skills, on the other hand, can be found in the straightforward metal and hard rock direction taken on "True Rebellion", "Baptized With Fire" and "Jump For Joy". Fast, energetic and catchy, these are three up-tempo numbers that bring to mind Bride (both late eighties and early nineties era), Iron Maiden, Barren Cross and Sacred Warrior. To say that lead vocalist Egi owns a set of pipes would be an understatement. While staying mostly in mid-octave territory with a vocal style that is equal parts clean and equal parts gritty, he adds a harsh element to his delivery on "Deliver You Back To Hell" and even mixes in some extreme growling on "For What It's Worth". On "Never Alone", in contrast, he smoothes things out with a more refined side to his vocal skills and adds some high pitched falsettos on "W.P.D.". Lead guitarist Gigi proves every bit as much a talent, combining with Egi on rhythm guitar to contribute the albums catchy guitar riffs – some faster and more up-tempo and others slower but heavier – while furnishing its scorching lead guitar. The albums low end, at the same time, makes its presence felt as well. Give credit to Oscar and Roby for joining an excess of pronounced bass lines with a pummeling drum sound to put in place a rhythm section that is nothing less than monstrous.
