Living Sacrifice Releases New Songs
LIVING SACRIFICE has released two brand new songs exclusively online. "Death Machine" and "The Battle," the band's first new songs since 2002, are available for purchase on the band's MySpace page through Bandbox. Living Sacrifice, the legendary Christian metal band whose influence stretches far and wide across the scene, is on their first tour since reuniting this year supporting Demon Hunter at venues across North America. Former and current members of Living Sacrifice went on to join bands such as Evanescence, P.O.D. and Norma Jean. Conceived in Fire, released by Solid State Records in 2002, was the band's last full album of new material. A best of set, In Memoriam, was released in 2005 with three songs that were thought to be the group's last. "We're super excited to be able to put out some new stuff for people to hear. This is our newest material in more than five years!", says vocalist / guitarist and founding member Bruce Fitzhugh. "Now that these songs are posted we'll be playing them live while on tour with Demon Hunter!." Fitzhugh is joined in the reunited Living Sacrifice by founding member / drummer Lance Garvin (Soul Embraced) as well as lead guitarist Rocky Gray (Soul Embraced, ex-Evanescence) and bass player Arthur Green, both of whom have played with Living Sacrifice since 2000's The Hammering Process. "This tour has been more then we could hope for, it's awesome to see this band playing to some younger fans for the very first time," says Bruce. Living Sacrifice is finalizing a deal with Solid State for the release of their next full-length album.

Facedown Records Signs Call To Preserve
Facedown Records is proud to announce the signing of Call To Preserve. Call To Preserve have a solution to the counterfeit emotion that is so prevalent in the current underground music scene. "We don't preach from stage or fit into anyone's mold," says guitarist Matt Aviles. "But we're sincere about who we are and we feel like this is where God wants us to be." Their integrity and candor is what sets this Floridian five-piece apart from their musical contemporaries; and the heavy, catchy quality of their music is what makes CTP's enthusiastic live show so irresistible. Energetically clearing hurdles that would be the demise of most bands, Call To Preserve has persisted, spending years developing their signature sound. They comfortably join together heavy Buried Alive-type moments, vintage NYHC-style bounce and melody-infused flavor in the vein of Give Up the Ghost. The result is an assault of burly hardcore anthems about faith, perseverance, friendship, loyalty and the straight-edge lifestyle to which they strictly adhere. After self-releasing an EP in 2005, booking several tours around the east coast and releasing a full-length with Strike First Records in 2006, Call To Preserve has now been signed to Facedown Records for the fall 2008 release of "From Isolation." The new album is being recorded at The Outpost in Stoughton, MA with Engineer Jim Siegel, best known for his work with Dropkick Murphys, Blood For Blood, Give Up The Ghost and Death Threat. Regarding the lyrical content of the new album, guitarist Harbor Partin has this to say: "We've written about being in places in life where we feel we're at our lowest and don't know why. The times when our faults are getting the best of us are the times we learn who we really are. It's when we're broken and humble that we're able to see the full extent of grace." The hardcore band from Florida's Space Coast has a humanitarian design for the new album. "We just hope people hear the lyrics and see themselves in it...that the songs will make a positive impact in others' lives."

Secret And Whisper To Play Loud Park Festival
Tooth and Nail Records artist Secret and Whisper has just announced their addition to the Loud Park Festival in Tokyo, Japan, labeled the heaviest metal festival in Japan. The festival will be held October 18th and 19th and will feature Slipknot, Dragonforce, Carcass, Sonata Arctica, Apocalyptica, Obituary, Meshuggah, and more. Singer Charles Furney said about going to Japan, “We have never played Japan before. It has always been one of my dreams to go to Japan playing in a band. So it's really cool to have this opportunity so early in Secret & Whisper's career as a band.” Furney went on to talk about the other acts on the festival, “This just all seems too surreal to me. We're all just blue collar dudes from Canada playing in a rock band and the next thing we know we're flying out to Japan. It has been crazy since I saw the poster and it's highlighted by Dragonforce and Slipknot. In North America that'd be like us playing Ozzfest. I never really envisioned us ever playing with Slipknot but I'd never complain either. A lot of the guys in the band are big fans of that band so it'll be like a dream come true for them so that's exciting. I'm open to meeting and playing with any types of bands, it gives us the chance to make new fans in a different genre.” Secret and Whisper is currently taking some time off from tour, but will be back on the road from June 28th to August 18th with Dance Gavin Dance, Lower Definition, A Static Lullaby, and Four Letter Lie.

Nevertheless Releases Second Album on September 16th
Chattanooga, Tenn.-based rock quintet, Nevertheless, will release its second studio album, In the Making…, on September 16, 2008 (Flicker Records). The eleven-track project was produced by Rob Hawkins (Fireflight, Jackson Waters), and was recorded in Nashville, Tenn. between March and April of 2008. “Sleeping In” is the first radio single from In the Making…, currently at CHR radio. While showing heart and expressing hope may not be new to Nevertheless’ lyrics, In The Making… is a different and more accessible approach of expression. “I would say the biggest difference, lyrically, is that we pulled even more from our own experiences on In the Making...,” shares lead singer, Joshua Pearson. “On this record, every single song has at least a few lines that hit very close to home. An example would be ‘Sleeping In,’ which was written from a place of insecurity, which I believe to be one of my ugliest opponents, from time to time.” And by highlighting such personal perspectives, In The Making… reeks of raw honesty and thus is the best tool to express its message. “We took our time to think about what we really wanted to say with our next album,” explains guitarist AJ Cheek. “We asked ourselves, ‘What can we do to really touch people’s lives, and not only make them think, but make ourselves think as well?’” Ultimately, they found an answer by clothing In The Making… with emotionally-laced lyrics and the predominant use of piano – an instrument that played an important part of Nevertheless’s sound during its independent days. “We feel like it’s a lot easier to just write heavy songs than it is to sincerely express a message. A piano has a way of really capturing a listener, and we find that it brings out emotions better than a guitar.” says Cheek. “We intentionally sought to progress in how our record would sound this time. It’s not a complete departure from the last records’ sound, but more an accent of it, with a bit more depth of emotion.” “Working with Nevertheless was killer,” shares album producer, Rob Hawkins. “It’s a great experience to work with a band that has such a defined vision of what they want the album to be. We knew from the start that we wanted to make an album that was honest and real; not hiding behind studio tricks and ear candy. The guys stayed true to that vision, and it was an honor to be a part of the process. I can’t wait to see where it takes them!” Accepting that the band is young, yet strongly evolving, is the key inspiration for the album title. Pearson explains. “We titled the record In The Making... for two different reasons. First of all, we believe that every single day we are still in the making of becoming the kind of people that God wants us to be. This record is written from personal experiences that we know many people deal with in their everyday life. Every pain and trial, along with every good thing in our lives, pushes us in that direction, and we hope the lyrics convey that point. Second, Nevertheless, as a band, is still in the making of becoming who we want to be. We are constantly learning who we are musically, and as people. This album is a reflection of this point in our lives.” “The goal for our music is to provide hope and inspire a desire to experience God’s glory,” says Cheek. “I hope people can learn from our songs that no matter what they are going through, and if they don’t know where to turn, just know that there is always hope through Jesus.” Pearson adds, “I believe that we are called to write about both the light that shines in the darkness, and about the darkness that does not understand it. I believe that honesty always breaks down walls. Healing begins when we are able to, first of all, be honest before God. Secondly, be honest and vulnerable with one another. I hope that our songs reflect this idea, and that, when people listen to Nevertheless, they get a sense that God loves them, and wants to talk to them.” The beauty, love and awe-inspiring mystery that faith in God brings, even when it seems to make no sense at all, is where the oft-asked-about band name originates. Luke, chapter 5, explains. “When Jesus had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, ‘Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.’ But Simon answered and said to Him, ‘Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word, I will let down the net.’ And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.”
