The Malitia Group Signs We Shot The Moon
San Diego pop darlings We Shot The Moon are welcomed into The Militia Group family of artists. With a full length, Fear And Love, due out this Spring, critical success in Japan, and non-stop tour dates in 2008 - the band is, in fact, shooting for the moon. We Shot The Moon is the brainchild of one man: Jonathan Jones. Jones, the former singer of Waking Ashland, formed We Shot The Moon in July of 2007 when Waking Ashland called it quits. Jonathan wanted to build upon the success of Waking Ashland, but was ready to take his music in a new direction; so he enlisted the help of his friends Dan Koch and Joe Greenetz (of Sherwood). They holed up in the studio in August of 2007 and the result was the marvelous and dreamy Polar Bear and Cougar EP. Dan Koch says of the writing process, "I was a fan of Waking Ashland, but wanted to help bring the very best out of Jonathan...and make every single song really count." Since that time, We Shot The Moon have released the Polar Bear and Cougar EP on iTunes, completed 2 full U.S. tours, and returned to the studio to record the Fear And Love LP. When asked about his new project, Jones says, "I'm ecstatic about the songs I'm writing. I think these are the best songs I've ever written". It's true. The songs are accessible, soaring, and heartfelt - a step in the right direction for Jonathan Jones. One things is certain about We Shot The Moon: you will be seeing more of them this year. With more than 2 months of tour dates lined up with Sherwood, The Matches, Houston calls (and more!), these boys are certainly coming to a city near you. Jonathan explains, "My goal is to hit the road as much as possible this year. I want my fans to get the full music experience, and to come away from a show with so much more than music." Look for We Shot The Moon on the road for all of 2008 (Tourdates below), and their debut LP, Fear And Love, in the spring of 2008 on The Militia Group. We Shot The Moon is: Jonathan Jones (vocals, piano), Trevo Faris (drums), Paul Wheatley (guitar).

Here I Come Falling Out On The Road With Once Nothing
The debut album by Here I Come Falling (HICF), Oh Grave Where is Thy Victory. Springfield, MO based HICF have made a serious name for themselves in the Christian metal scene through their dissonant screamo laced passages mixed with technical metal fury, electronic elements and soaring melodic sections, and drew the attention of labelmates The Devil Wears Prada, who then brought them right to Rise. HICF is about to head out on the road for a string of dates with a rotating cast that includes A Plea for Purging, Oceana, and Once Nothing (Solid State Records), and has another big tour in the works for the Spring. The band has been actively touring over the past couple of years sharing stages with such bands as Norma Jean, Haste The Day, Drop Dead, Gorgeous and Alesana to name a few. With the release of Oh Grave…, HICF is looking forward to reaching the masses, tells guitarist Kasey, “It’s been really exciting to see all of the stores in our area sold out of our album already. We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback from kids on Myspace, and fans at shows as well. We’ve grown a lot over the past six months, and we really want to get our message across the kids.” There has been a very positive reaction online, with popular music and lifestyle portal About.com saying “Oh Grave, Where Is Thy Victory has a lot of melody, and there are keyboards and electronics that add depth and texture to the band's sound. There are some mellow moments along with the aggressive, pummeling guitars.” Music webzine Skylinepress.net chimed in with, “If you like livid and pounding guitars/drums, screamingly exhaustive vocals, as well as injections of epic tranquil pieces sewn into the core, then you must check out Here I Come Falling.” There are talks of a video in the works, so keep checking www.myspace.com/hicf for a possible online fan poll to choose the song they will film the video for.

CCM Magazine Takes A Radical Step
One of our compatriots is waving goodbye to print. (No, HM Magazine does not plan on following suit. We plan on printing a magazine until the good Lord tells us otherwise; as it's always cool to hold and read a magazine on the bus, on the couch, in the Starbucks...). Salem Communications (Nasdaq:SALM), the leading U.S. radio broadcaster, Internet content provider, magazine and book publisher targeting audiences interested in content related to faith, family and conservative values announced today a significant plan to enhance its commitment to Christian music on the Internet through its fast-growing Christian music Internet network. Jim Cumbee, President of Non-Broadcast Media for Salem Communications and Publisher of CCM Magazine said, "CCM Magazine readers tell us they want more information and want it faster than can be delivered in a monthly printed magazine. Accordingly, we will discontinue the printed version of CCM Magazine to put increased energies toward the continued growth and enhancement of our comprehensive Christian music and entertainment online network featuring CCMMagazine.com, ChristianMusicPlanet.com, CMCentral.com and MyCCM.org." For almost 30 years, CCM Magazine has been the preeminent voice of the Christian music scene. Cumbee continued, "We are excited to continue our commitment to great writing and thorough coverage, but now all of that will come to the readers on Internet time." The April issue will be the final printed version of CCM Magazine. The decision to discontinue the printed version of CCM Magazine does not affect Salem Publishing's other magazines, Preaching Magazine, Youthworker Journal, Homecoming Magazine, The Singing News Magazine and Faith Talk Magazine. Salem Communications (Nasdaq: SALM) is a leading U.S. radio broadcaster, Internet content provider, and magazine and book publisher targeting audiences interested in Christian and family-themed content and conservative values. In addition to its radio properties, Salem owns Salem Radio Network(R), which syndicates talk, news and music programming to approximately 2,000 affiliates; Salem Radio Representatives(TM), a national radio advertising sales force; Salem Web Network(TM), an Internet provider of Christian content and online streaming; and Salem Publishing(TM), a publisher of Christian-themed magazines. Upon the close of all announced transactions, the company will own 97 radio stations, including 58 stations in 22 of the top 25 markets. Additional information about Salem may be accessed at the company's website, salem.cc.

A Letter From Josh Dies of Showbread
Josh Dies writes to encourage fans to volunteer in service projects symultaneously while Showbread is working in Equador with Raw Rock Missions.
Friends, Next month my Showbread has the opportunity to serve in Ecuador at Casa De Fe, an orphanage that provides care in a loving and supportive environment for abandoned and special needs children. Our team will be spending two weeks at Casa De Fe helping in any and every way we can. This is due to a partnership with our friends at Faceless International. Last year, after working with young girls victimized by a sordid prostitution network in Kolkata, India, members of Showbread started Raw Rock Missions, an outlet for Showbread’s worldwide mission work. We wish that we could bring everyone willing to help to Equador with us, but since we can't, we thought of another way for everyone to be a part of Raw Rock Missions... During the time Showbread will be working in Equador, anyone who wants to be a part of Raw Rock Missions can pledge that time to spend serving others in whatever way(s) they can. You could look up shelters, centers, hospitals, churches or whatever you have in your community to volunteer at... This could mean feeding/caring for the homeless, reading to sick kids, assisting the elderly, helping to clean up or repair a home or building, or just making a donation to charity. The possibilities really are there, you just have to look and find something you are capable of and someone in need of help. Faceless International also recommends dosomething.org. On this website, just type in your zip code and a list of possible ways for you to help others will be ready for you. If you write to info@facelessinternational.com or the Facelessless International myspace page with a subject that reads "PLEDGING TIME FOR RAW ROCK MISSIONS" telling us how you will pledge time from January 20th-February 1st (or whenever you can) to serve others, we will put together a list of everyone that is serving all over the world and has become a part of Raw Rock Missions. Our friends at Faceless will then add some of the stories to the special "your stories" part of their website. This special page is dedicated to our friends who joined us in our mission. You can learn more about Casa De Fe, see the children and missionaries we will be working with, read newsletters and more at: lacasadefe.org and learn more about Raw Rock Missions at rawrockmissions.blogspot.com:80. -Josh Dies

Memphis May Fire On Tour
Memphis May Fire (MMF) have announced that they will be heading out on their first US tour this March. The tour, sponsored by The Artery Foundation, will also feature A Skylit Drive, Dance Gavin Dance, Before Their Eyes, Four Letter Lie, with rotating dates from Oh, Sleeper, The Hottness, and Blinded Black. The band has been gearing up for a huge tour like this for awhile, tells vocalist Chase Ryan, “We feel extremely lucky to have been chosen to be on this major tour! It’s going to be massive, because we’re hitting a ton of cities we’ve never been to before, so we just can’t get out on the road, and we’re counting the days. We feel that our live show is a pretty good way to know what we’re about, so we’re psyched. Plus, this will be our first solid tour where we don’t have to worry about if we’re going to eat! So that’s a good thing.” The band won’t have to worry about that ever again, judging by the success of their recently released self-titled EP on Trustkill last month. Buzz about the band has been flying around all over the Internet, and they charted on “Top Unsigned Bands” by Myspace.com this past year. Print publications are picking up on the buzz, with coverage planned in Alternative Press, Amp Magazine, HM Magazine, Rock Sound, and Drumhead Magazine. Music webzine Skyline Press.net said “Much like a calm Underoath, Memphis May Fire fires off with dual vocals for the growling crowd as well as the gentler songbird moments for the indie scene. We take trips between rumbling hostility and its polar opposite, making for a never dull listen every time…. Energy and melody with fury and balance.” Upon first listen, it’s apparent that MMF’s influences are a combination of both traditional southern rock and contemporary metal. The band has been spreading the good word on tour for the past few months, going out most recently with Twelve Gauge Valentine (Solid State) and The Handshake Murders (Goodfellow Records). The Dallas TX band have been recording and playing together since December of 2006, and released their first EP soon after, which ended up selling over 5,000 copies on tour. They have gone out with a wide range of bands, including In Fear and Faith, Nevea Tears, Cry of the Afflicted, SkyEatsAirplane, and The Hottness, among others. MMF are currently working on material that will be on their debut full length, which is due out on Trustkill at the end of the summer, and promise to reveal more about the album in the next few months. Check myspace.com/memphismayfire and trustkill.com for updates, and see tour dates below.

Skillet News
A Message From John Cooper:
Hey Panheads! We are out on tour bringing the rock to Winter Jam and loving it! Thanks to all of you who have already come out and supported us!! I am writing an email to let everyone know about a change in the life of Skillet. Some of you already know, or have been speculating that Lori our drummer is no longer with Skillet. Unfortunately, this is the case. Lori told us about two months ago that she feels that it's time for her to come off of the road and start a new chapter in her life. We are of course going to miss her!! I wanted to let you all know sooner but the task of finding another drummer and getting prepared for this tour right on top of Christmas was overwhelming. On top of that Lori was finishing up the year and helped us train a new player so it was a bit premature to make any announcement. Lori’s last show with us was New Years Eve where we rocked it out together for one last time! She is going to miss all of the loyal fans who have been so supportive of the "coolest chick drummer ever!" Lastly, we wanted to wait to make this announcement after we had a new drummer in place so there would not be those who think that Skillet is over. We are far from it! So as you know know we are losing an awesome girl drummer, and replacing her with another awesome girl drummer! We will let you guys know more about the new member soon, but for now, her name is Jen Ledger; she just turned 18; and she is looking forward to rockin your faces off! As always, stand and be strong. -John Cooper

For Today Signs With Facedown Records
Facedown Records announces the signing of Sioux City, Iowa Band: For Today. Says drummer David Morrison of the signing: "We couldn't be happier to have signed with Facedown Records! It's been a long battle but God has finally put us where we are supposed to be at the right time!" Along with this announcement come two new songs on the band's myspace: "Words of Hope" and "Infantry" were just added alongside "Agape." You can catch the band on tour now right up to their date on the 10th annual Facedown Fest and beyond. Tour dates are below with many more dates coming soon. "You can expect to see us on the road all over America in 2008 so get ready!" BIO: From the heart of the Midwest rises a beast whose ferocity and aggression is rivaled only by its poise and focus. For two years For Today have clawed and scraped their way into the spotlight. Seldom is there to be found a band whose passion and integrity are a matched by their technicality and musical merit. As forthcoming about their faith as they are about their musical prowess, vocalist Mattie Montgomery sums up the band's mission: "This has nothing to do with music and everything to do with our faith in Christ." But music is a catalyst and For Today uses their August Burns Red-meets-Between The Buried And Me sound to spread their message across the nation. For Today have become widely known as one of modern metal's most technically proficient bands and have earned their spot by playing over 200 dates in 2007 alone. Fusing extensive and prestigious backgrounds in both hardcore and metal and promising to up the touring ante in 2008 they have stamped their name in the hearts of fans from all across the globe. For Todays debut full-length Ekklesia, produced by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, The Human Abstract) is marked for release on April 1 and with the backing of Facedown Records (along with a relentless tour schedule) For Today stands poised and ready to stake their claim in today's modern metal scene.

Acts have until Feb. 2 to upload submission videos to FameCast.com FameCast, hot on the heels of a previous season full of dynamic young artists, lucrative cash prizes and artists receiving once-in-a-lifetime career opportunities, is set to launch its record-breaking Season 4. Thanks to its successful first three seasons of competition, the Web’s leading talent competition and fan entertainment community is now being utilized by the entertainment industry as an online artist discovery engine that collects, ranks and serves up the world’s best emerging talent. FameCast’s online platform (www.FameCast.com) continues to not only connect independent artists directly with new fans worldwide daily, but provides entertainment business tastemakers access to tomorrow’s stars right from their laptops today. An example of entertainment industry professionals turning to FameCast for talent includes C3 Presents’ sourcing of acts for its major festivals. Through the C3 and FameCast-hosted Big State Big Star contest, Eric Michael Hopper earned a spot on the lineup of the inaugural Big State Festival, where he joined Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson and others to entertain more than 50,000 fans live on stage. For Season 4, FameCast is accepting video entries at www.FameCast.com through Feb. 2 (depending on chosen categories). Winners, in what is certain to be FameCast’s most successful season to date, compete for $10,000 stage prizes and rewards that will assure a leg up in the business, such as feedback from top industry insiders, working with A-list producers, gear, and mentorships with a veritable who’s who of the entertainment world. Musicians themselves are singing FameCast’s praises as well. “Our fan base has actually exploded because of FameCast,” said the members of End This All, FameCast Season 3 Rock Finalists. “It’s helped pull our fans together, and it’s tightened us as a group as well.” Julie Moffitt, winner of FameCast’s Season 3 Singer-Songwriter Fēnom and Critics’ Pick awards, elaborates, “FameCast is a rare opportunity to be discovered. The Top 10 artists in each category receive direct feedback on their work from entertainment industry experts, and the Top 5 finalists are flown to Austin to perform in front of a live audience and a panel of A-list industry judges. The ultimate fan favorite earns the title of FameCast “Fēnom” and wins a $10,000 cash prize. FameCast holds three 4-month “seasons” of competition per year. See famecast.com for more information. From the Top 5 finalists, FameCast’s judging panel -- featuring A-list music and entertainment industry personnel -- also selects 12 additional artists as a “Critic’s Pick.” This distinction earned Season 3 artists industry opportunities such as a mentorship with Derek Dudley, manager of multi-Grammy winning artist Common; top-shelf, hi-tech music gear from noted hip-hop producers The Heavy Weights; entry to the 2008 ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO; and mentor sessions with Emmy-winning country songwriter/producer Trey Bruce, Geffen Records A&R rep Justin Siegel, trade publication HITS senior editor Roy Trakin, Pitchshifter member/PSI label owner JS Clayden, Hollywood screenwriters Josh Gilbert and Michael Carnes (Mr. Woodcock) and more. Entertainment industry personnel involved with Top 10 critiques and “Critic’s Pick” selections of FameCast’s Season 4 talent includes Paul Korzilius, head of Bon Jovi Management; Grammy-winning original member of Nine Inch Nails and current Gnarls Barkley drummer and Marilyn Manson keyboardist Chris Vrenna; Francis Preve, producer extraordinaire of six #1 Billboard remixes in 2007; and many key music journalists such as The Source’s Soren Baker, Steve Hochman (the Los Angeles Times, etc.), Aaron Burgess (Alternative Press, Spin, etc.), Gary Graff (New York Times Features Syndicate, Guitar World, etc.), Melinda Newman (Associated Press, Hollywood Reporter, etc). A full list of experts is available at www.famecast.com/experts. In a recent article about FameCast, Pollstar said, “If you’re an artist trying to get noticed, you WANT these people to notice you.” Past FameCast Fēnoms are on the move. Season Two Rock Fēnoms Tripdavon had their winning song featured on HBO’s Entourage. Season winner Mike Corrado began writing with film and TV producers in Los Angeles, while Short Film and Animation Fēnoms were featured in a screening at the L.A. International Shorts Festival. Season One R&B Fēnom Melissa Suzanne’s single was featured on a Sony compilation disc and Country Fēnom Eric Michael Hopper rocketed to #1 on Clear Channel Radio’s New Music Country Chart.

I think every time a hard Christian band plays in New England there should be, by default, the words "relentless tour schedule" somewhere in the verbiage...
