Get Down With Decyfer Down
It’s not hard to decipher the reasons why SRE Recording’s rockers, Decyfer Down, are doing so well at year’s end. With two consecutive No. 1 Christian Rock radio hits under their belt in their debut year, Decyfer Down is already proving their staying power in the music industry. The North Carolina rockers success also goes beyond radio, and into venues across the U.S. Playing in front of sold-out crowds at festivals with mainstream groups like Crossfade, and recently on the Days of Reckoning tour with rock group Pillar, Decyfer Down is winning over crowds in every capacity. As they rock their way into the hearts of fans, letters have been pouring in with responses of changed lives. Jane writes,"[My husband]… he often comes home in a stressed out mood and goes right to the stereo and punches up Decyfer Down. So I guess I should thank you, you're probably adding years to his life...really..." Another changed fan, Bruce, wrote, “I wanted you guys to know you make a HUGE difference in people's lives and keep on rockin'. You guys are extremely talented and have inspired a sense of renewal in my relationship with Jesus Christ.” In this year alone, Decyfer Down has toured in over 165 cities, and has greatly widened their fan base along the way. The start of the new year, 2007, looks to be no different with a tour already confirmed with Disciple, kicking off on January 18 in Wichita, KS.

Remembering A Brother
This from Speakers For The Dead: "It is with an extremely heavy heart that we write this, but our brother Jason Garcia (Guitarist for Gryp and Speakers For The Dead) lost his fight against cancer on December 19th. He will be missed by many around the world that he touched with his music. He had a kind heart and rarely had anything faze him. Even when cancer sunk it's talons into him, engulfing his entire body physically, he never faltered mentally. He was an exceptional musician and person. His overwhelmingly grueling and painful ordeal is now over. We have all been scarred by this 11 month long torture. We will surely miss you brother and will continue on with a 2007 album in your memory. Love, Curtis, Gary, Rob, and Jimmy." (HM passes on our condolences to the remaining band members and family. We're encouraged by the belief that this brother is now living on in a totally healed body). For more info, go to Speakers For The Dead

Canadians Rock Too!!...(Believe Me - I MEAN it)
Facedown Records has signed Canadian post-hardcore band Means. Means, a prolific and emotionally charged post-hardcore band from Regina, Canada is taking the US completely by surprise with their melody-infused breakdowns and earnestly-crooned vocals. Facedown Head-Honcho Jason Dunn agrees: "The main thing that stuck out for me was the quality of the songwriting and the 'real' sounding vocals that are sung with passion. Matt has an incredible voice with a lot of melody but also a power that most singers today don't have. The balance of Matt and Dylan's vocals complement each other greatly and the music behind it all is as tight as it could be." An intense live performance and a light-hearted attitude is what you can expect from the Canadian foursome. A full length record In Red Grace, a 4 song EP More Than Watchmen for the Morning and extensive Canadian touring have paved the way for Means to make the most of 2007 by signing with Facedown Records to release their brand new album Sending You Strength. Sending You Strength was recorded and engineered by John Paul Peters (Comeback Kid, Every New Day) and will see a March 6, 2007 release on Facedown. Look for the band on tour in the US non-stop this spring as well as a spot on Facedown Fest 07.

Taking The News To Russia
Inpop recording artist Newsboys played in St. Petersburg, Russia. Headlining Finland’s Maata Nakyvissa Festival, Newsboys also held concerts in Bergen, Norway and Aarhus, Denmark, before capping off its initial run abroad with the Prishestvie Rock Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. Performing at LDM Youth Palace, in the heart of the city, Newsboys drew an audience of nearly 1,000 youth. “Jesus’ last words on earth were to ‘go and make disciples of all nations,’” comments Newsboys manager Wes Campbell. “Over the last few years, the band has made a serious effort to do just that, bringing the excitement and passion they have in their live concerts to masses all around the world.
