HM News Update: Week Ending 12-2
Evanescence Opens The Door
Evanescence's second major label release The Open Door has now been certified Platinum by the RIAA for sales exceeding 1 million copies in the U.S.. The Open Door debuted at #1 and sold 447,342 copies in its first week alone. The record was recorded in Los Angeles and includes the return of long-time friend and producer Dave Fortman. The album is defined by Amy Lee’s beautiful melodies, profound lyrics, stunning vocals and poignant piano, which fuse with Terry Balsamo’s urgent, yet intricate guitar playing, to form a remarkable, ethereal blend perfectly rooted in the band’s rock and classical sensibilities. As a reward to its loyal fans, Evanescence performed seventeen live concert showcase performances at intimate, historical venues in the U.S. and Canada in October and is currently in Europe playing a dozen of Europe’s most prestigious, intimate venues prior to embarking upon a worldwide tour of arenas and festivals in 2007.

Frisbee Anyone?
At long last, you can purchase a copy of FRISBEE: The Life and Death of a Hippie Preacher here. The movie is a sleek and fast-paced 60 minutes, but almost everything that was in the longer version is jam packed into another 60 minutes of extras that go through some chapters that were pulled through the movie's various edits. The documentary includes a great soundtrack of music from early Jesus music rock bands Agape, The All Saved Freak Band, Gentle Faith, Joy and Stonewood Cross. Never heard of them? That needs to change. And toward that end, very soon we will be releasing a soundtrack CD to FRISBEE with all the songs included in the movie and some extra tunes that didn't make the cut. There are two upcoming screenings in December. One at Vanguard University (Costa Mesa, CA) on December 4th and at the Loft Theater in Tucson, AZ on December 28th.

"I am so excited about this," says bassist/vocalist Devin Shelton. "Everyone has put so much work into it. This is definitely not a typical re-release since there will be a lot of surprises for our fans. We can't wait to get it out to everyone.”
That's Right: Breathe...You Can Do It
Inhale/ Exhale is as straightforward as breathing itself. The Lost. The Sick. The Sacred., the band's Solid State debut, is refreshing in equal measure for its love of heavy diverse music as it is the depth to which it mines classic rock. Fresh off a full U.S. tour with labelmates in The Chariot, August Burns Red, and Destroy The Runner, Inhale Exhale will be seen tearing it up across the country in December with Maylene & The Sons Of Disaster and Twelve Gauge Valentine.

Relient K Looks To The Past
On March 6, 2007, Gotee Records/Capitol will release Five Score And Seven Years Ago, Relient K's fifth album in seven years and the follow up to 2004's mmhmm. The album, most of which was produced by Howard Benson,is a departure of sorts for the pop-punk band. For starters, there are some love songs - happy ones. "I always write about what I'm going through and I can't avoid the fact that I'm just really happy and there are some good things going on," says lead singer/guitarist/pianist Matt Thiessen. This happy state of mind lights up the exuberant first single "Must Have Done Something Right." "This song represents something that I've wanted to create for a long time," he explains. "It's not a political commentary or a tear jerking emotion-piece, it's just a feel good, fun song.
Written at 3 a.m. with a smirk on my face, the song turned out to be something that you can tap your foot and smile to."
Five Score And Seven Years Ago marks Relient K's first full-length album featuring bassist John Warne and Jon Schneck, who plays guitar, banjo, and bells - although the two appeared on the band's Apathetic EP, released inlate 2005. With lead guitarist Matt Hoopes and drummer Dave Douglas completing the lineup, Relient K is now a quintet with each of the members contributing vocals
You can now download the new single "Must Have Done Something Right" at all digital retailers. The single plus a bonus track, "Fallen Man," will also be available as an MP3 file for $0.99 direct from the band's website - relientk.com. "Fallen Man" will not appear on the forthcoming album. The same single plus bonus track will be available on iTunes. A higher quality 320kbs MP3 download of "Must Have Done Something Right" plus the bonus track will also be available for $ 1.25 via the band's website.
