HM MAGAZINE UNLEASHES ONLINE EDITION

online edition sample view.gif

The future is here. HM Magazine is now "printing" two versions of each issue -- one digital and one print. While we never see the need of a printed version going away (what else will you read in the bathroom or on the bus?), we've been wanting to launch an online version for years. It wasn't until we found a cool company to work with that would help us lock in password security and whatnot that we'd finally pull the trigger and unleash HM Magazine as a complete online edition. You'll see that every page is here. What's really cool is that the links are active, so when you see a link highlighted on a page, you can click on it and surf straight to the site (or an email form will pop up if it's an email address).

Click on the May/June issue cover image at right, or click here to start viewing. You might need to download a newer version of some java script to view the online edition, but it should be no more than a couple clicks away from you now. While we will charge for digital subscriptions ($6 each) as well as "single issue" copies (at $1.99 each), we are launching the May/June issue here (which includes the Jan/Feb issue as a back issue archive) for FREE until the July/August issue rolls out. At that time, all current print subscribers will get a FREE DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION and will get their digital passwords mailed to them with the July/August issue.

Enjoy this online issue and let us know what you think.

"We're adding to and enhancing the 22-year old print magazine's tradition of bold rock journalism and coverage of all types of Christian hard music (metal + punk + rock + alternative)," says HM Magazine editor Doug Van Pelt. "We found a way to jump into the future without sacrificing the wonderful feeling of holding a new print issue in your hands. Each issue and each page of the print magazine will be online and available to subscribers." Like an online PDF document, but smaller in file size, online readers will be able to go through each page of the magazine; and special features in the magazine (like the table of contents page and url's printed in advertisements) will be active links that jump to a specific page or open a new browser window to the linked site.

You know what they say in Texas: "Yeehaw!"

This is brilliant! And the sub price is so reasonable! What a great idea! Any way to make a magazine more interactive seems crucial in this day of digital information and existence. As a helpless print junkie, I can admit that I've always been very disappointed with the websites that correspond with magazines and the publisher's lack of ability to utilize the most useful media we have - digital. Thanks for the awesome work!!

Great idea, easier access for all, great mag and good to see you keeping up with the times......I always look forward to reading my copy of HM mag & Heavens metal zine in the comfort of my bathroom...cant wait for the latest edition

Great to see you guys still going after all these years. I used to subscribe to HM but, i realize times and sounds change and so did the Christian Metal scene, meaning traditional, and power metal was out and nu-metal and alternative was in.In the secular world power metal is alive and well (Gamma Ray, Edguy, and hundreds more). If the Christian scene changes or has changed please drop me a line. Stay true. God Bless.

love it!
