HM Exclusive Take Action Tour Interview

Check out what the Take Action Tour bands have to say about numerous random things, including what Kurt Cobain might be doing if still alive, the worst city to play in, and what Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Kaddisfly think the future of Emery will be.
First up is Pouyan Afkary from Scary Kids Scaring Kids:

What got you involved with this tour and/or what does the cause behind this tour mean to you?
It's very rewarding to be on a tour that benefits others, especially on such a large scale such as Take Action! is. We were very honored to been given the opportunity to join in and help support the cause.
Weirdest thing you've ever seen a security or venue bouncer do....
Kick me out in the middle of playing a show for rocking out too hard.
Most looking forward to about this tour?
To be able to play with A Static Lullaby again.
Worst city to play in (and you're not afraid to say it) and why?
Probably Tennessee I think it was. For the crowd's reaction. The bible belt area is very hard for us to get a smile out of for some reason.
If you had to predict the future for Emery's career, what would you say?
I couldn't. They're a great band and I wish them the best, but the most talented bands aren't always the most famous. I hope they get where they want to be, because they definitely deserve it.
Best two songs on your latest album? Why?
"A Breath of Sunshine," and "Darkest Hour." I'm sure the rest of the guys might disagree, but they're my favorite, because one shows our real serious side and
one just wants to (bleep) party!!
Best three albums of 2006? why?
Copeland's new album... Mute Math (if it was released in 06 not sure). Saosin's new album. Because they are very well rounded solid albums.
What have been some of your funniest/most creative answers that your band has given to the "What does your name mean" or "How did you come up with the name 'Scary Kids Scaring Kids' questions?
We googled it is always a good cop out. But a couple of us used to throw bags of urine at kids we didn't like. That was the younger us, we might not do that today if we'd been given the opportunity.
Next up is Elias Reidy, representing Red Jumpsuit Apparatus:

What got you involved with this tour and/or what does the cause behind this tour mean to you?
Basically we were offered to be a part of the tour and we gladly accepted. We've been blessed with being slightly successful and we realize that it's our responsibility to give back and make a difference and not just blend in like everyone else. Not to mention being a part of the Take Action Tour has been a dream of mine since i was a kid attending.
Weirdest thing you've ever seen an audience member do....
Uhh, hmm.. Let's see. This one time we played a show and someone in the audience reached into their pocket, pulled out a pair of scissors and began cutting everyone's hair off around them. Yeah, that never happened, but it'd be pretty crazy. Right?
Most looking forward to about this tour?
All the crazy animal rights stuff will probably make me become Vegan. That's kinda exciting.
Worst city to play in (and you're not afraid to say it) and why?
The worst city to play in is Lawrence, Kansas. Why? Go there.
If you had to predict the future for Emery's career, what would you say?
If I had to predict the future for Emery's career, I would say that they will most likely do whatever they want and have a good time doing it, because that's what we will do. And they're a Christian band. That's awesome.
Best two songs on your latest album? Why?
The best two songs on our latest album would have to be "Achey Breaky Heart" and "When Doves Cry." Just kidding, I like all our songs equally ... sooooo no fair.
Best three albums of 2006? Why?
Future Sex Love Sounds by Justin Timberlake (because it's incredible and he's a pimp), Juturna by Circa Survive (because it came out in 2005, but who cares? It's the (bleep)), and Define The Great Line by Underoath (...you haven't heard it?) Keep it real!
Next up is Kile Brewer//kaddisfly:

What got you involved with this tour and/or what does the cause behind this tour mean to you?
Being a Sub-city records band, we are very much into giving. The messege behind the Take Action Tour is right up our alley, and we want to do our part to spread the awareness of preventative suicide. We have wanted to be a part of this tour for several years and by getting that chance now, we are putting all of our effort into making it the best TAT ever.
Weirdest thing you've ever seen an audience member do....
At a show awhile back in a very small town, there was one guy that had clearly been doing a bit of boozin.' He was the light of the audience all night. During the final band's set he made his way onto the four foot high stage. He moshed around a bit and then made a HUGE stage dive with no one around to catch him. Let's just say it looked like a backyard wrestling stunt. He gyrated on the ground for a minute, got up holding his shoulder, and got into a vehicle that said "ambulance." Sweet move bro!
Most looking forward to about this tour?
Probably making friends with the other bands. Hangin out for 2 monthes with the same brosephs. I guess it's kinda like summer camp. Who's gonna be the stinky kid?
Best city to play in and why?
For us, I gotta go with Mad-town (Madison, Wi). We have some great friends there now, and they show us the best time everytime we go there. Big up's to the Annex!
If you had to predict the future for Emery's career, what would you say?
Probably the same thing they would say if asked about our career......."I have no idea." I wish the best for everyone's career, cause playing music everynight is fun figs.
Best two songs on your latest album? Why?
On our upcoming release on March 6th, titled Set Sail The Prairie", I'm going with the song "Via Rail." It's a slow building song based on the theme of movement. The sounds of a train accompany the music in a rythmic "chugga chugga, chugga chugga" pattern. Very cool. My other choice is the song "Empire." It has a very upbeat and happy feel to it. It's really fun to play. So fun in fact, that we will be playing it everynight on the TAT. Snap!
Best three albums of 2006? Why?
Mute Math - Self Titled. So many great grooves on this record. It's a good one to put on for a drive. Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist. Always pioneering and dishing out the heavy. Love'em and i'm not familiar with any other records that came out this last year.
If Kurt Cobain were still alive (answer all four questions)...
a) Would he still be married to Courtney Love?
NO.
b) Would he have collaborated with Michael Stipe?
NO.
c) Would Nirvana still be making music?
NO.
d) He would have ___________
A huge auto dealership in Seattle called "Cobain Motors." They would specialize in the selling and creating of grungy used cars. Creating, you ask? Well, Kurt personally would destroy perfectly good cars using his HUGE guitar swings, head butts, and jump kicks. People, of course, buy these cars at outragous prices, and all because Kurt smashed his guitar into the hood.
And last, but certainly not least, Toby Morrellfrom Emery:

What got you involved with this tour and/or what does the cause behind this tour mean to you?
To be honest we haven't been affected by teen suicide personally. But after getting to do this tour and reading about the signs and thought processes of someone that might be considering suicide, we realized that there are many more people than you realize (many times close friends) that cannot find joy in their lives and we as friends and family need to become aware of our brothers and sisters that are hurting and in need.
Weirdest thing you've ever seen a fellow band do while on tour...
Be our friend. Just kidding. Ummm, well a certain good friend drank peepee for $10 and another great friend, Chris from the AKA's, got back at Anatomy of a Ghost for pulling a prank, by peeing in his hand and then throwing it on their gear and van.
Most looking forward to about this tour?
Surfing in the Pacific ocean, making my first million, and making a new friend and then kinda get in an argument with them but right at the end of tour makeup and tell them I will never forget them.
Best city to play in ... and why?
There are tooooooo many to choose just one, so I will say any place with sweet tea.
If you had to predict the future for Emery's career, what would you say?
Well, predicting the future ... ahhh ... that's like mysticism ... what are you - a devil worshiper ... this interview is soooo over ... okay, maybe not quite, but you know your place now.
Best two songs on your latest album? Why?
"A Win, Win Situation" and "Miss Behavin.'" Because they are really fun to listen too. And "Miss Behavin'" has a cool mandolin sound.
Best three albums of 2006? Why?
MeWithoutYou - Brother/Sister
Say Anything - Is a Real Boy
Dance, Dance, Dance - The Author & The Perfector
