HM Exclusive: Kiros Interview

How are you guys doing as an indie band out there on the road?
It’s definitely been exciting to see how fast things have been growing and expanding for us even without the backing of a massive label or anything like that. We’ve been hitting the road really hard and already we are seeing kids at shows singing along with us during our set and just getting really stoked to hear that we’re coming back. It’s definitely been an exciting adventure so far.

How does it feel to be competing out in the music world, paying your dues, travelling the countries in a van, playing live, etc?
We love being out on the road. It’s always an adventure and you never know what to expect. In fact, just yesterday our transmission blew up and we are currently waiting to get that replaced/fixed. Most of all thought, we love being out on tour because every day is a new opportunity to meet new people and reach out and touch lives. Getting to hang out with some of the coolest guys in the world, AKA – my band-mates, all the time is always awesome too!!

What are your favorite songs off A Single Strand? What song(s) are audiences responding to? How is your album doing?
The album is being so well received and I’ve been blown away by all the positive feedback we’ve received. It’s definitely been exciting to hear how pumped people are on it especially as our first US release. The songs that I’ve heard the most about would probably have to be “Heaven”, “Of Wolves and Angels”, and “The Reprise”. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite as they all hold something special to me and we put a lot into each song, but if I had to, I would probably pick “Heaven” or “The Reprise”. “Heaven” has a lot of meaning behind it and is such a fun song to play live. It hits hard and is such a great sing along tune. As far as the album goes, “The Reprise” pretty much sums up everything that we intended for the CD to communicate to those listening to it. It is our own personal ballad of the Hope that we have found in God and have experienced through the love that He has for us. This Hope is quite literally the single strand that holds up through all that we face in life.

How are those colorful pants holding up?
Haha… Oh, the pants. You caught us on what we would quite affectionately call a “pants night”. We saw those pants hanging from a rack one day when we were walking through a mall in Canada and we couldn’t resist picking them up. We only wear them on odd occasion when we’re feeling particularly festive, but when we do, it’s always a magically colorful experience.

Anything else?
Other than that, the new CD is out in Hot Topic, FYE, and on iTunes, so if any of you haven’t had a chance to pick it up, now’s the time. We’re going to be touring the US a ton this year and we would love for everyone reading this to come hang out with us at some shows. It’s always a fun time hanging out at a Kiros show.
