HM Declares War on Robots

Maybe you've noticed those stupid porn comments under various articles, album or dvd reviews on the HM mag website. Who puts them there? They are placed there from "robots."

The porn industry (and other companies greedy for business) sites apparently want more people to visit them, so they use software "robots" that search out websites with comment fields, and they "spam" as many comments as they can, moving on and trashing up a fine website.

Besides being very annoying, it is costing this magazine dearly. Readers get turned off; and I have to spend time deleting the comments; and I have to "close" the comment fields faster than normal to keep the robots from finding them. This is a bummer, because it doesn't allow you, the reader, to comment on the articles/reviews for very long after it initally posts.

One of these days I'll find a way to keep them from appearing. Until then, I thank you for your patience in waiting until I can get them deleted. God bless you!

No worries man!

please burn those robots to smithereens

If you need any help looking for/deleting them....I love fighting robots.

I'm more of an autobot than a decepticon myself

Put up those stupid letter ID things that you have type in first before leaving a comment.

so anyone can post? hm....apparently

Just add a field: I'm human, I'm a robot. With robot being the default. At least that used to work a while back.

Stay Vigilant Doug. You will find an easier way. And may you continue in faith firmly in His grip.

You could make it where comments have to be approved before they are posted. While this also is time consuming, it eliminates spam. This is often utilized by people on myspace that don't want lewd comments. You could also make it where you have to log in to post comments.
