Every year, while we are busy tabulating the votes that really count (yours -- via the Readers' Poll), we ask a bunch of staff writers to send in their picks for favorite albums, unsigned (indie) band, and live show for the past year. It's always fun. Here's what they said this time:

Wow! I had to check twice that I was actually reading HM. While reading the staff picks, I momentarily thought this might be another publication. One thing's for sure: the hard is definitely diversifying and this is not the HM of ten years ago. As we say down on the ranch "Crank the metal."

Heck yeah The Showdown. Git Snake Bit! But I think A Chorus of Obliteration came out in 2004. Anyway they have a new song on myspace called Give Us This Day. It rocks
Salute to Chris Beck for having the best choices of excellent bands. .Pure rock! Rob Rock is the best christian band.
